I have been a fan of ev since when the snes was a big thing. The unfortunate thing is that I was never blessed with the presence of a mac in my life. Ev Nova could serve to remind other pc users that, hey, there are other ev games out there, so a single game from a series that was only for macs can boost ev sales and mac sales. Unless there are plug-ins for Nova that lets you play the origonals. In which case pay no attention to me.

pc or mac

I love the mac so much, grew up my entire life with it! Even back with the old apple II! Bottum line, since I'm on my own now, I can't afford to keep up with the mac community, and like others I now use a pc. EV for pc was a lifesaver! Remember, not all people using pc's are ignorant to the ease of the mac, but are not as fortunate.

My impression so far is that although all the new stuff you can do are great, the game itself can't be compared.
Anyways, I need some help. I too, have been forced into the Vellos story, and now I am to find the HQ of that Polaris Intelligence Agency. I have been on every single Polaris world which you can land on, and I can't find it! Can someone please tell me where it is?

I just accidentally learned ev nova had a story line when i was forced into the vel-os story... heh

Update
WonKers May 25 - 6:44 PM

Being a member of the Ambrosia Web I have been updated on the progress. EVN for PC should be out within a week or two. From their info they say it works great on pc just a few minor bugs to fix and its finished.

hold it right there....

Mac users love this game, its ours.......PC owners shouldn't buy a bloody PC in the first place

I can't wait.

I agree with 'bigfat', I was considering buying a mac after trying out EV, the original. Then I heard that EV:Nova was being ported to Windows, and thought: Hey, that's great, I won't have to spend a ton on a Mac. I think it's only strategically smart to move to Windows, seeing as Windows takes up 95% of the market. Just remember, that there are a few die-hard mac fans, but that most of the people out there use Windows, and if a game for the Mac isn't really popular, chances are it won't survive long.

HUZZAH!

Wahooooo! My Mac-user friend showed me this article and I said, well, "Wahooooo!" FINALLY - Ambrosia gets smart!

EV:O doesn't need to be ported to OS X
wfzelle May 22 - 3:12 AM

The old scenario's and plug-ins can easily be ported to EV:Nova using Port Authority. It's supposed to be released very soon. I even hear about converting the scenario's graphics to 16-bit.

BTW, tchristney, is it your habit to sit on your fat ass and demand that developers do what you want for free? You might want to change that attitude.

Well...
tchristney May 21 - 12:40 PM

How about porting EV:O to OS X? Let's get our priorities straight, El Presidente! Oops. Wrong boards.

Hmmm...

Sounds like Bungie right about the time Marathon 2 was released cross-platform. Or maybe we're even further along, into a Myth-like stage. Anyway, we know how that all ended...

Strange days
Lizardo May 20 - 10:20 PM

While I'm always displeased to see a mac-only title encompass Windows as well (mainly because it runs the risk of later becoming a Windows-only program), I think it's great for Ambrosia and may give them more cash to build further mac games. Hopefully it brings new fans to an already wonderful game! Eric, I'm not sure why you find EVN any more repetitive than other games: FPS' get boring about 2 days in, Strategy titles get boring about 2 hours in, and RPG's get stale a few weeks in -- it's the nature of games and our shorter and shorter attention spans.

We all gon' die!
Condor May 20 - 9:35 PM

Now our PC friends will have no use for us! I'm skipping town.

the real question is...
eric May 20 - 4:33 PM

considering how long it took for EV:N to get boring for most game-starved mac people who bought it (roughly a week or two), will spoiled pc gamers throw it out before they even receive their serial number? i mean nova is great while it's interesting, but it gets repetitive real quick.

Wait a minute...
Some Random Nobody May 20 - 3:24 PM

What does this have to do with Mac gaming?

pfft
bigfat May 20 - 1:13 PM

ok.. yeah.. funds are nice... but i mean come on, maybe they should have landed a contract with apple or something, seeing as how i don't know how large of an audience bugdom and otto matic can hold... i think this really is one of those games that make people think "man, i should buy a mac"... just my two bits
