>Doom was a huge success, why not put a new technology on an old game.
>The game idea is already set in stone, so you don’t have to come up with anything new there.
But maybe you should have to, if you're going to ask people to plunk down money for something. Same old stuff like "Doom" is why the video gaming industry is stuck in the horrible rut it is. It takes attention (and hype-driven consumer dollars) away from the (very) few cool, interesting new projects that get lost by the wayside.
Ever notice that "gaming industry" is an oxymoron?
