I guess you have to remember that part of an MMORPG is ganking and that it is, apparently fun for lots of people. Obviously if you get ganked you aren't gonna like it, but if you get sued in real life, its the same thing. I think that doing this kind of thing really just makes WoW a closer approximation to how things work in real life. There's the good and the bad. Rewarding people for ganking is good for gankers, gankers pay money to play, so ganking should get its fair shair of rewards.

I must say though... bring on the battlegrounds!

Yeah, but that "inefficient" pvp is pretty effortless. I did the Tarren Mill/Southshore thing, got 54 kills, and 1000+ points. The day before that I had 100 kills exactly, and 454 points, so it varies.

The problem with your argument is, that it's not an either-or proposition. I can gank and zerg and camp and pvp straight up. A point is a point. These things provide incentives for annoying behavior where none existed before.

Note the date, May 24th. By then I'd hope the next patch is out, looking at the WoW forums there are numerous changes coming up (including dishonour for NPC kills). Hopefully battlegrounds will be in by then too.

A lot of people are bing daft with PvP at the moment, but they'll soon realise that ganking, killing NPC's and generally causing trouble for others isn't an effective way to get actual points. (I see many ppl taking part in the raids getting only 2 or 3 points per kill compared to the 10's or hundreds ppl get from sensible PvP)

Great, encourage more people to go pvp inbetween taren mills and south shore. Thats was we need to help the servers is an extra few hundred people out there. Its already crazy enough when you are in combat the whole time and it takes 5+ seconds to do an instant cast move. Not to mention the slide show from everyone AOE'ing.

Rewarding griefing. Yuck. No dishonor points.

US only

Not that these prizes are for US realms only. In the latest Blizzard newsletter mention of a European 'Test of Honour' contest with just the Tabbards is made. Not sure what the situation is for Korea.

this needed to come with battlegrounds only. Everyone wants Blizz to get some of the PvP out of the regular world and into battlegrounds. This would have helped if battlegrounds were already in, but now it just encourages PvP (which is neither needed nor welcome at this point).
