I got a ut2004 server running with this mod on it. "0~JACKALSPALACE~HALO~0"
Its a velicle genocide style (team death match with all the Halo veciles and weapons). I slowed down the game to 80 % of UT2004 to try to give it a more HALO flavour style. You need the latestest patch installed on you client for it to work with the Velicle Team Death Match patch also. Try it out and please give me any positive or negative feed back. I also have a VCTF server up "0~JACKALSPALACE~0" with this halo mod on it also.

Hope to see some of you there...thank-you.

People, try reading the website. It answers all your questions. (a) They DO indicate that they would like to do Halo 2 if feasible, although it is still a long way off. (b) They have contacted the involved parties and read the EULA to investigate the legality of their project.

What havok?
Riko February 09 - 9:20 PM

Heh, when they're done maybe they can mod Halo 2 aswell? :)

sillek February 09 - 2:33 PM

Is their website incredibly slow for anyone else, or is it just me ?

Quicksilver February 09 - 2:23 PM

I agree with Blades, however, since I already own Halo, I'd love to get a graphics update, if they can swing that.

Nagromme February 09 - 2:03 PM

I wouldn't generalize user-made mods for UT2004! For instance:

Jailbreak
Chaos Evolution
Damnation
Red Orchestra
Alien Swarm
Air Buccaneers

ll very extensive, all commercial quality! And plenty more where they came from.

(Not to mention... they're original content!)

Hang on... wait a second...

Theft? Maybe. Stupid? Definitely.

Making a mod based on a game owned by Microsoft is a pretty dumb thing to do, unless you wanted an inside view of how the court system works.

And while they claim that Halo PC was chuggy and not a wholesome experience, user made mods for UT are of considerably lower quality than real games. Basically, you get the same effect.

Will they be able to translate Halo's superior gameplay?
Gromit February 09 - 11:12 AM

Or will it be UT with Halo skins? I'd love voice comm and better netcode in Halo, but I don't think replacing Halo's vehicle physics with UT's would make for a good trade.

Isn't this theft?
Blades February 09 - 11:08 AM

Stealing content from one engine to give it away in a competing game? Last time I checked that was theft.

Nagromme February 09 - 10:19 AM

It's crazy the things people have done with the UT platform!

If I could have only one game, it would be UT 2004.

But then I'd have dozens of different games...

G-News February 09 - 9:38 AM

If they can get Co-op into that, I'm gonna love that mod:D
