Sound bug
spunkmeyer November 10 - 8:27 AM

There is still an unresolved sound bug noted in the blizzard forums that causes all sound except music to drop after about 45 minutes of play and some performance drops too. I know it's still a beta, but sound is kind of a big thing to miss.

Justin November 10 - 7:08 AM

"LMAO, read dude, read. You are at the wrong place. And if your reading this then your too late. The Open Beta has stopped taking places now, its full. "

Uh huh huh, read dude, read. How am I at the wrong place? I'm posting a comment on the WoW open beta being available, and I'm on a Mac. I'd say I'm in the perfect place.

Also, I made it clear that I knew the open beta is full. That's the problem - my gripe is that they did not make it clear that all the signing up I did through FilePlanet to get a beta key in no way meant I had access to the open beta. Based on a ton of other forum posts I'm not the only one.

So relax, 'dude'. Dont be such a b1tch.

'Guess its my own fault, but they could have made everything a bit more clear cut AND NOT USED FILEPLANET. After an hour of trying and trying to signup via FIlePlanet, I finally got a beta key. Yay! After 24+ hours of downloading the 3GB client, yay! After 30+ minutes of installing, yay! Let me make my account!'

Oh. oh..... turns out that even though we went through the drama of getting a key via FilePlanet, it's basically useless, since you had to take THAT key and put it into BLIZZARD's account creation process.

F*****&!&$&&@#$&!

They really didnt make that clear... it was "FilePlanet will have a limited number of slots available, after they run out come to Blizzard's site to get one of ours." So once I got the key from FilePlanet I thought I was set, and could create an account after I downloaded the client AS LONG AS i had that beta key.

*sigh* Well this is a ton of time I'm not going to get back.

grrrr.

This Download Expired!
Murdock November 09 - 6:25 PM

I am getting that same error looks like there is a PC update for the downloader but I also cant find any info for getting a newer mac version...

Ugh.

Download has expired.
Me November 09 - 5:55 PM

Has anyone found a link to the current Mac version of the installer. The one I downloaded from Blizzard constantly tells me its expired.

jonez November 09 - 4:55 PM

do not think blizzard can fix flaws in apples implementation of opengl, openal, graphics drivers and so on. since they only update those things with their system updates, devs are forced to set high system req if their game needs features missing/bugs in earlier apple os versions.

Narles November 09 - 4:08 PM

I think that World of Warcraft is a little better graphics than Warcraft III. I'd say Blizzard is doing a great job supporting the Mac. It's not like 10.3 hasn't been out for a year now.

System Requirements
ToggleGTP November 09 - 3:45 PM

Yeah, but isn't that the point of the blizzard staff to fix those issues (porting) in order to make the game run on older os 10 versions? They did it for Warcraft Reign of Chaos, version 10.1.3 and higher. I think they just got lazy.

senior coconut November 09 - 3:39 PM

If you like MMORPGs, WoW r0x0rs j00r b0x0rs. simple as that. if you dont like MMOs, dont waste our time telling us that. youve already made up your mind, so move on.

ive had no problem joining with other people for quests because the game makes it so natural for groups to form. if no one else happens to be working on a particular quest at the exact moment i want to, there are plenty of others to chose from.

complaints about the costs of PC gaming in terms of OS and hardware upgrades is the oldest, deadest horse there is. you KNOW that requirements are going to go up. thats just the nature of the beast. if you want fixed costs, go to a console.

and blizzards support for this game is absolutely phenomenol at a time when 19/20 MMORPGs do not appear on teh mac at all. listen people: this brand new MMORPG runs like butter on my year old powerbook laptop. if you are asking for more than that, you are simply naive.

10.3.5 requirement
rbarris November 09 - 2:57 PM

If the features and bug fixes needed to get WoW to operate correctly were present in the 10.2 version of OSX, we would support 10.2.

If Apple can be encouraged to make future hardware and API features available on older OS releases, then this situation might be simplified.

System Requirements
ToggleGTP November 09 - 2:34 PM

The system requirements are too high (10.3). If you have noticed all the other game demos, such as Star Wars Galactic Battleground, Star Wars Jedi Academy, Call of Duty require at least 10.1.5 or 10.2.8. Not everyone can afford a new OS every 9 months at $120 a pop. I think WoW did a bad move. As you can tell those previous demo manufacturers have given themselves a broader game market as they have kept the OS system version lower. I give WoW thumbs down on this development and thought process.

Destroth November 09 - 10:53 AM

Its fun for a while but when you get to the elite quest you have to find people to join you. That is the hard part because most people just want to play
with there buddies that they know from the real world. Im gonna give the open beta a try this time with an Alliance character, so I can explore the other side of the world. Plus I gotta try that monorail. The game does cost more per month then most.

DOH
Morrigan November 09 - 10:34 AM

i meant "get out of your CAVE" not your DAVE rofl

har!
Morrigan November 09 - 10:33 AM

quite a lot like diablo 2? get out of your dave and download it :D

It's worth it
Mac Game Insider News Guy November 09 - 10:10 AM

I saw it running at E3 and this game is pretty awesome.

This is good
ΔShagz November 09 - 9:24 AM

For all those who always want a demo, this is your chance without having to pay the monthly fee. Mind you, it is a pain to sign up (at least it was when I did it). Lots of delays. Also, the beta weighs in at about 2.5Gigs (mine is still downloading at home from last night). It is a bit torrent download.

No way!
Levi November 09 - 8:18 AM

No, I have not tested it. I guess this game will be quite a lot like like diablo 2, and I wouldn't want to pay for more of that crap.

Dog November 09 - 8:08 AM

Do you think it's worth the monthy cost? That's quite a bit of money, especially for a college student like me...

WoW
Todd November 09 - 7:53 AM

I have been in Closed Beta since Phase 2.

This game is awesome. Blizzard does a great job of supporting the Mac. And don't think that just because you're in Open Beta you won't have a say in how this game turns out. Blizzard continues to make significant adjustments in gameplay based on tester input.

crack November 09 - 7:35 AM

Watch out. It's like the local crack dealer, "Here try it. It's free..." I'm hooked!
