Stubbs the Zombie Rocks
Steve Harris November 25 - 11:35 PM

I have always been a fan of zombie films and I am glad that the genre is seeing a resurgence. I think that this Stubbs the Zombie game is going to rock in both original content and graphics presentation. The soundtrack listing is top-notch too! I will buy this for my Mac as soon as it drops.

It is my most optimistic wish that Wideload does not see simultaneous release as the same as Microsoft with Halo and iD with Doom 3, because they suck for releasing months and months later.

Can't Wait
John Curtin November 01 - 6:24 PM

Seems like somebody's finally decided to fill the whole left when Bungie sold out. And look! It's Bungie. :P

Looks like my Mac will start to see some gaming again soon. =)

I_like_zombies November 01 - 2:13 AM

(1) This game sounds like lots of fun.

(2) I hope their meaning of "simultaneous" isn't like ID's about Doom3. (oopsie)

We must better understand the plight of the zombies.
A.C.L.U. October 31 - 11:42 AM

Sounds like fun Wideload!!! I can't wait. Original thinking [for the Mac] and dedication to our platform from the onset means a "win = win" situation for everyone!

I've always been bummed that Resident Evil never made it to the Mac, so this will fill my need to deal with the undead. Even better, I'll get to be a zombie so that I can better understand their motivations and empathize with their plight by getting inside their heads...

Oops! There's nothing in there! Why? They're frickin' zombies that's why!!!

Way to use your... ahem... brains... Wideload!

hello,
Ringenoldus October 31 - 7:41 AM

hello Duane Johnson.
as you and i know Apple updates OpenGL in OS X.

i know the 10.4 OpenGL is allot better optimized but still for Nvidia cards their rubish mainly because Nvidia don't do anything on the drivers, Ati drivers do get some work from Ati but this is also mainly done by Apple.

OpenGL+Ati= Slow Performance Doom3.
the Ati X800 is a fast card but their software sucks, Nvidia have shown ati on the PC that Software is as important as the Video card itself.

!! Throwing Body Parts -- Originally Quake 1
Setmose October 31 - 7:07 AM

The zombies in Quake 1 throw chunks of rotting flesh torn out of their sides or off their heads. So it's not an original concept.

However I liked the screen shot of the "weapon view" camera following the thrown severed arm!

ΔAlex October 31 - 4:03 AM

Can't wait for this game, it seams to be so freaking awesome!
Although I hope that they have improved the Halo engine performance wise otherwise this game will run like crap on many computers (like Halo does (did?))

Ahh, yes - we deserve nothing.
Just like it for us to be stupid October 31 - 1:44 AM

It's the Jerks that made people slow to adopt Everquest on Macintosh, and it'll be the jerks yet again who ruin Mac first development.

Yah!!! You have done it again...

Wait until you play it
placebo October 30 - 7:45 PM

I have a feeling that this is one of those "sounds stupid, plays great" sort of games. Sounds wacky, can't wait!

ΔG4Jedi October 30 - 10:26 AM

Heh... Punchbowl, PA? Is there actually such a place in this state? ;-)

Hat's off to Wideload
the Battle Cat October 30 - 9:45 AM

Congratulations to Wideload on the announcement of their first game, "Stubbs the Zombie, Rebel Without a Pulse". This games sounds like a hoot. I knew those guys would deliver with innovation and humor!

I smell…
François October 29 - 8:04 PM

I smell an Halloween rat! :-)

its not last years MacHalo
Duane Johnson October 29 - 5:22 PM

I want to point out one huge difference between Stubbs development process & MacHalo. The lack of GearBox & it's PC Halo port. We are working on both the PC & Mac versions of Stubbs, side by side with Wideload.

Not to mention Apple, ATI & nVidia are continuing to improve the OpenGL drivers.

oompa October 29 - 4:41 PM

Halo runs like crap no matter what comp you put it on.

Some of the reactions here are disgusting. Mac gamers are in no position to be jaded like this. Here's an innovative x-plat game by dudes who have worked miracles for the Mac community, and there are still douches who trash it? Sad.

Destroth October 29 - 12:48 PM

The game sounds good, but the Halo engine runs like crap on Macs with nVidia hardware. I hope they are going to release this disk as a hybread.

Original
muldrake October 29 - 12:31 PM

An Ed Wood style 1950's B-movie? Sounds like fun. I'm glad somebody is taking the FPS genre in new directions. The typical "one man with a gun against the world" storyline is getting old.

Fun and Funny
Mike October 29 - 11:40 AM

I can see why a game like this wouldn't be for everyone, but to me, the concenpt seems original and hysterical. I'm excited about the idea, but will have to wait and see how well it's implemented.

a little faith
Δdeckels October 29 - 10:21 AM

wow, have a little faith. These guys have certainly delivered in the past. I have high expectations for the game.

Mac first October 29 - 9:41 AM

I'm surprised how jaded Mac gamers are! Finally an original game is coming out for the Mac at the same time as xbox & pc and people think its lame? You'd think we're getting Mac-first/original games every day!

It sounds funny to me!

Swell
Bubba October 29 - 9:11 AM

Wow. A humorous zombie game. Gee. Looks like fun. Can't wait.

Yawn. ZZZZzzzzz........

Lame?
Apelock October 29 - 9:06 AM

At least it's not another stupid war game. If I hear the terms "tactical combat" again I'll puke. Enough with the bowing down to the flag already. At least this game looks like it may actually have a sense of humor.

Huh?
ΔNAG October 29 - 8:55 AM

Halo didn't run like crap on my QS.

Yay...
Zorath October 29 - 8:38 AM

Created using the Halo engine, so it'll run like total crap.

lame October 29 - 7:31 AM

Zombies? How incredibly lame.

MCP October 29 - 6:46 AM

Sounds so retarded "new Mac-friendly developer" I knew this sounded too good to be true!

Braaaaains. . . urrrrhhhh! ! !
OZRhino October 29 - 6:44 AM

:D
Looks like a fun game, can't wait.
Interesting to see it come out on mac, pc and xbox.

This is infinite coolness!
ΔWSTE_M October 29 - 5:58 AM

Oh, I cant wait for this game to come out.
braaaiinn....

Yumm
ABigSmall October 28 - 7:31 PM

Mmmm.. Zombies..

Ah, summer 2005, when Tiger comes out!
