Purple boats? :p

Sorry my money is going with Warhammer: Dawn of War. This game looks like a snooze fest with outdated graphics.

Pretty slick actually
Unclewolf September 20 - 2:39 PM

I played the PC demo on a computer at work, and it's quite enjoyable (as well as laid back for those who enjoy such). It is straight U-Go, I-Go movement, and there is no random element in the combat. The base unit has an attack strength of 1, so it does 1 point of damage to enemy units. Defense strength is how many points of damage you can take. Units can't be repaired either.

There are more powerful units, as well as ranged units (mortars, rockets, artillery, and bombers).

The strategy comes in planning your shots to maximize kills, and positioning your units properly. And, in deciding which units to purchase with your limited funds, and whether to save money to buy a bigger unit next turn.

The standalone expansion Massive Assault: Phantom Renaissance has an 'RTS' style online playmode.

Apelock September 20 - 11:26 AM

Me like the turn based game too.

heh
Morrigan September 20 - 10:39 AM

yeah nobody likes turn based strategy, the Civ series was a complete failure! ;)

If you enjoy the strategy of a chess game, you'll more than enjoy Massive Assault.

TBS?
Narles September 20 - 9:55 AM

I can't imagine that this game is more fun than a good old RTS (like Total Annihilation). I'd have to play a demo and see what it's like before even thinking about buying it.

Turn base...
Pinky September 20 - 8:58 AM

I on the other hand, am a sucker for turn based games. Real time is fun, and so are turn based games (in my opinion). It's nice to play relaxed sometimes. Will have to look into this game.

Have fun !

Too bad it's turn based :(
Tussey (US Army Cadet) September 20 - 8:45 AM

Otherwise I'd buy it....who wants to play a game where there is no real time battles....count me out. Although the graphics are VERY impressive

z3 September 20 - 8:36 AM

For ordering go to www.freeverse.com or their store at store.freeverse.com

Where can we order it?
Skyfisher September 20 - 8:33 AM

It is not clear from the website where a person can find or order Massive Assault here in the US. The U.K. site lists the PC product the Mac link does not have order information that I could tell.

ΔMacProject September 20 - 8:10 AM

Wow! This is great news, but the 600Mhz G3 requirement is a bit misleading as you still need a 32MB Video Card to play the game according to Freeverse's website:

People with older iMacs probably won't be able to play this despite having the required processor.

All in all, this looks like an interesting RTS for the Mac library.
