Cant Expand the File?
VileMaggot August 31 - 9:46 PM

Hello everyone,

Let see if anyone else is having this problem:

I download the stress test of WOW .zip, twice from two different sites on fileplanet. When I try to expand the completed download, i recieve the following error from Stuff-IT Expander:

An error has occurred while expanding the file "wow_stresstest_beta.zip" (Tried to position to before start of file). Error #-40

Im a macintosh user with OS 10.3 and tried to expand via command line too with unzip and recieved the following message:

End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: can't find zipfile directory in one of wow_stresstest_beta.zip or
wow_stresstest_beta.zip.zip, and can't find wow_stresstest_beta.zip.ZIP, period.

Please Help.

It says in the FAQ that it will start shortly after the sign up ends.

Strange. I signed up this morning and got a key right off the bat. When is this stress test going to start anyway.

Could be some left...
Pete August 30 - 11:44 AM

Well, mind you they want 100,000+ testers. That is a *lot* of people. Additionally, I had to wait a good 5 hours to get a key and the link to download. This leads me to believe they were giving people access in groups so as to keep downloads to a nominal amount on Fileplanet.

Available Slots
Mapache August 30 - 11:14 AM

I got a signup key early Sunday afternoon, so there were some left as of then.

Destroth August 30 - 10:58 AM

I got in and didn't have to sign up for the pay service. I think there are still some slots open.

system requirements
mwat August 30 - 9:19 AM

Here is the thread with system requirements. This is for those, like myself, who were wondering what they might be. Keep in mind this is for the current beta. Final requirements may change.

QWERTYMage August 30 - 9:07 AM

... as I didn't get in. I'm sad that I can't fiddle around, but glad that my 1st foray into this game won't be for 1 short week and intentionally buggy and laggy.

I want to hit the ground hard and fast.

I guess its better that I have to wait?!

(Sour grapes :P )

Me too!
Narles August 30 - 8:56 AM

I got my CD key....just waiting for it to start

I'm in!
kiss_my_mac August 30 - 8:51 AM

Allready downloaded the 2,21 Go !!
Now I'm waiting!

senior coconut August 30 - 8:22 AM

available slots are long gone. the "public" signup filled the remaining slots by late saturday afternoon.

no harm in getting on the list though i guess, just dont expect much to come of it at this point.
