Hi everyone,

I recently started a video series about old Mac games! There are already a few videos up there, both with and without commentary. The most recent video is about the classic game Pathways into Darkness.

Check it out here (like and subscribe, etc.):

Feel free to leave feedback. I'm a bit new to video stuff but have been getting the hang of it, I think. I'll be posting a few special videos eventually, too.

This is awesome!
Kestrel (Falcon NW Tiki) – 4.0 GHz i7 4790K / 16GB RAM / 512GB Samsung 950 Pro M.2, 2x480GB Intel 730 (RAID0), 10TB STX BarraCuda Pro / GeForce GTX TITAN X 12GB
Iridium (MacBook Pro Mid-2012) – 2.7 GHz i7 3820QM / 16GB RAM / 2TB Samsung 850 Pro / GeForce GT 650M 1GB

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.

Great job! I subscribed and shared it on Twitter.

I'm very impressed how well you made the Let's Play format work for you in delivering a considered retrospective of the game.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm still trying to nail down my style and get the technical stuff sorted out, which is why I covered a few smaller games before tackling Pathways. It's good to know people think I'm doing a decent job so far!

You mentioned Marathon in the PiD video, you should do that game someday.

Marathon is very important to me, so I will definitely do a video about the trilogy at some point. Also, I thought I recognised your name, do you post at the phforums?

Latest video is for Unicycle, a simple and silly game that is nonetheless remembered very fondly by me:

I used to, I probably still have an account there.  Loved me my Marathon.  Also at IMG is Frigidman, an early mapmaker and Marathon celeb who created Evihcra/Fileball which served as a Marathon/Myth file archive.  Frost is here too, he was one of the editors of the Maramag.  Thain Esh Kelch and some other Marathoners I'm blanking on.  Who's that guy with the Bungie exploding man icon?  Sorry guys, I'm old and forgetty.  You'll like it here Think Indifferent, it's a fun and friendly place with lots of hard corps Mac Gamers.

I've uploaded a few new videos! I also started a Patreon for support. Hoping to invest in a new microphone. The one I have now is a bit rubbish.

You are not a real Mac gamer if you haven't messed with Forge and Anvil in your lifetime.

I'd forgotten Boris. Looking forward to your After Dark retrospective, especially Lunatic Fringe.

LUNATIC FRINGE!

I had so much fricking fun with that "screen saver." So upset it was never available as a separate release, so when After Dark stopped working with newer versions of the classic Mac OS I couldn't play anymore.

I used Forge all the time to make Horde mode versions of fun maps before Horde was cool. I remember 19650 was one of my favorite respawn rates for certain monsters... to the point I remember it to this day.

I haven't tried it myself, but there's an app that's supposed to make Lunatic Fringe playable on modern Macs: http://www.sealiesoftware.com/fringe/

According to this site, the wrapper stopped working when OS X Lion came along (presumably when Rosetta went away.) But I wouldn't mind booting to Snow Leopard one more time just to try it..

The aforementioned site attempts to recreate Lunatic Fringe using HTML & JS. I downloaded the code and tried to run it, with mixed results. Safari gave me nothing, but in Firefox you can see the bare bones of the game: I could fly around and shoot a few things and hear them go pop. But the project isn't active any more. Points for effort!
