Coupled with a backlit logo, Cook would have millions of people showing of the rainbow banner. :P

<checks>

Well, it's certainly in the Urban Dictionary...

Wah-lah

"Voila" for idiots.

"Voila" is French for "Look Here" but people who are clueless sometimes say or spell it "Wa-lah" because the French do not pronounce the "V" as clearly as English speakers would.

A - "Instead of buying Godiva chocolates, I scooped canned frosting out onto a plate. Wa-lah! Truffles!"
B - "Don't you mean 'Voila!'"
A - "That's what I said! 'Wa-lah!' Obviously you've never been to Paris, the City of Lights."

Alternately, Wahlah also appears to be a terrorist of small repute whose credibility recently took a hit when it turned out his gritty 240p cellphone execution videos were actually performed on Ken dolls using forced perspective.

Iridium (MacBook Pro Mid-2012) – 2.7 GHz i7 3820QM / 16GB RAM / 2TB Samsung 850 Pro / GeForce GT 650M 1GB

This is pretty funny. The New MacBook Pros thread turns into a conversation about Wah-lah which I think says something about this most recent Apple event although I am not entirely sure what. Maybe all the excitement over the new Mac desktop refreshes is what has everyone talking gibberish. Oh, wait...

Honestly if they don't announce new desktops, or if the desktops they do announce are neutered and 30% thinner, I'm probably gonna slowly ease out of the mac scene. I've been using macs my entire life, my family is huge on it, and I love them. But things are not looking too hot right now.

I was thinking the same thing. Cook is running Apple into the ground because he has no idea what makes the company special. I am just surprised that no one else around the CEOs board appear to tell him otherwise. They can't all be blind.

I wouldn't worry about the desktops too much. It's pretty obvious that for whatever reason, they decided it would be best to wait til Kaby Lake desktop chips come out, which is early next year.

I don't see what else would be keeping them up. It's not like they'll be putting a touchbar in the thing. Oh wait...

But yeah, count on 'em being 20% thinner.

The Mac Pro and Mac Mini has not been updated in 3 and 2 years respectively. This is not about Kaby Lake.

I would guess the iMac is 75% or more of their desktop shipments. It's already been on Skylake since last fall so there isn't really much they can upgrade other then graphics currently.

I don't think either the Mini or the Mac Pro are going to survive this round of updates. My prediction is that the mini goes bye-bye and the Pro is re-designed (yet again) since while it is a technological marvel of a product - it fails completely to serve the need of the professional market that it is aiming for.

..... And they've just broken their pre-order record

http://www.macrumors...-pro-interview/

Obviously I think a good chunk of these are from the pent-up demand from not doing any updates for 18 months, but still... I didn't expect a sales record.

I thought we were just talking about iMacs. I guess that shows something...were people really expecting Mini and Pro updates?

Anyways, yes, the situation with the Mini and Pro is ridiculous. If the Mini doesn't get a KL update along with iMacs early next year, and the Pro Skylake-E at WWDC, then consider them dead.

I have a feeling the Pro is either dead, or it's getting a tower redesign (as Sneaky Snake says) because they realized the trash can was a dumb idea. Nothing else would warrant the lack of attention.

The Mini, on the other hand, has always been a half-hearted hobby. I think it will continue to get rare updates into the future.

Or maybe they are scratching the Mini and making an ARM Nano the size of an Apple TV. *shudders*

The 21.5 is still on Broadwell. I don't think the needed Skylake chip for it was out last October, and it looks like that whatever reason they decided to hold off for KL.

I don't even know why they would ignore those markets so much.

High-end PCs are one of the few growth areas recently (although that may be solely due to gamers, so admittedly Apple might not get much of anything from that), and last I heard Intel's sales for their various NUCs are fantastic, so the market for micro-computers is still very much alive and well.

Man, Tim Cook or whoever is making the final hardware decisions over in Cupertino just needs to take care of that rectal-cranial inversion. They're sitting on more money than the GDP of most small countries. How frakking hard is it to do a simple hardware refresh? All the newer stuff is smaller and cooler, so it's not like there's some complex engineering challenge to figure out vis a vis cooling.

And over 80,000 employees. I have to assume at least some of them don't agree with sitting on the Mac Pro for 4 years. It's time for some fresh blood at the top.

And no, I don't mean Ive. I kind of feel like the MBP is the culmination of Tim not being able to wrangle Ive into the correct balance of form and function.
