It's a good thing you guys put up with me or else I'd be out wandering the internet wasteland alone. At least after trips out there I can come back here and report in on my findings or read about yours.
Well, actually, we keep hoping you'll come back with that Water Chip after one of your forays. It's getting pretty dry and body odory around here.

The only other forum that I have found to be a relatively enjoyable experience is the hardwarecanucks forum. It specializes in pc enthusiast hardware (gaming mostly) and I have had a lot of great discussions on there. I've probably tried a half dozen other forums, but they either have way to much moderation (we are deleting your thread because a thread from 6 years was about something in the same general category), or way to little (total popsnizzlehole community).

You can configure terminal.app to deal with an ansi bbs well enough, well enough for me at the price of free anyway.

I may or may not have played TradeWars 2002 (old BBS game) via OSX's Terminal recently.

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.

Wow. I remember a friend of mine loving that game when all we had was a BBS to call. He played that a lot. When he told me about it I thought I might have to learn something so I stuck with pong and such.

Well, I guess that undermines the argument I was going to make about kids these days not being able to find their way around without a "go here" marker and a corridor with no branching paths to run down... :P

Well, beyond four years ago I was just a twinkle in the Apple Marketing & Sales Department's eye so I'd never heard of nor visited MacRumors prior to that. I did own a Performa 6300 once upon a time that I really liked but work always kept me on Windows systems or for a time Linux at home despite my wishing I could also afford a Mac going all the way back to the SE/30 I believe it was. I also remember drooling over the Mac II cx I think was the model and its beautiful display but I couldn't swing that either at the time considering I had to have a PC for work. I've always considered Macs and their operating systems to be superior to PCs and Windows in various ways but it was not until relatively recently that I was able to make the switch at which time i tried to adjust in terms of gaming but as noted elsewhere I'm not satisfied on that front while still liking them very much otherwise.

I have found MacRumors to be helpful at times with questions outside of gaming in various forums, music creation and the requisite hardware being one case where people there were quite helpful. So I see the place as a mixed bag personally but I don't think the gaming area is one of its highlights not surprisingly. Once again and as usual it's a mixed bag where I have met and liked some people there but there's an awful lot of noise I could do without on the other hand.

At this point though I am inclined to just ask you guys about all things Mac or Apple before looking elsewhere, poor you!

This pretty much sums up my impression of the two platforms.
