Each month the Feral Interactive newsletter includes a section called "We asked Mac/Linux gamers..."

I'll post each monthly question in this thread in the form of a new reply, and if you reply your answer could get quoted in our next newsletter! Eternal glory, here we come.

The question for March 2016 was:
What’s your favourite Total War game and why?

Shogun 2 because I like the medieval Japanese setting.

At the risk of being eternally reviled in your March newsletter... I have never played a Total War game!  I'm just not a fan of resource management and strategy games.

Rome II because it's Rome, but more.

I kind of want to give the hipster answer and say Spartan: Total Warrior though, just because I know no one else will say it.
Kestrel (Falcon NW Tiki) – 4.0 GHz i7 4790K / 16GB RAM / 512GB Samsung 950 Pro M.2, 2x480GB Intel 730 (RAID0), 10TB STX BarraCuda Pro / GeForce GTX TITAN X 12GB
Iridium (MacBook Pro Mid-2012) – 2.7 GHz i7 3820QM / 16GB RAM / 2TB Samsung 850 Pro / GeForce GT 650M 1GB

Eric5h5:
When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.

Yep, I can verify that Frost liked Spartan: Total Warrior before it was cool.  ::pins an oak leaf cluster to the hipster medal on Frost's chest::  Well done Mr. Frost.

Hellcats over the Pacific!
It supported multiple monitors, had awesome performance for that time, and was way ahead for its time (1991) in many aspects.

Full Deck Solitaire. It is so mindless and relaxing. See what you're playing when you're old!

That's actually true by the way. I checked my stats and it turns out I've averaged over a thousand hands a year since I got it four years ago.

Marathon was a game I couldn't survive without.  It was the best shooter out at the time, with a deep storyline and a map editor which the community and I used to great effect.

Star Trek: Judgement Rites

As a kid this fostered a lifelong love of Adventure games. I would play for hours pretending I was the captain.
