Lol! Sorry, that should've been "Warcraft 3."

In any event----

Patch notes:

Specific Changes & Improvements
  • Throw away that old PowerPC Mac in the closet; we've created a new installer to support Mac 10.10 and 10.11
  • Improved compatibility with Windows 7, 8.1, and 10
  • Fixed a crash caused by Chain Lightning
Known Issues
  • Windows 8.1 and 10 saved games are still stored in a location that requires running as system admin
  • Some graphical issues with the cinematics are still occurring
  • Changes to gamma settings will not take effect in windowed mode
  • Cyrillic characters are still not displaying
  • Disabled ambient sound while a MIDI issue is being resolved
  • Mac 10.9 and earlier are not supported
  • Mac build does not support the editor

Thanks for the patch notes. Where are those from? I'd like to keep myself up to date on this and Diablo 2 along with I hope StarCraft coming up.

Do you know if updates if/when they occur will be via Battlenet in the game?

Starcraft is on the way. Given its popularity in Asia, I guess they want to spend a bit more time on it.

Why is this in the RPG subforum? I couldn't find it.

In the specifications list for each it just says Windows as the only platform supported. Is there another way to get the Mac version?

The key is cross platform. It will just show in your battle.net account to download whatever platform you desire.

Where is the best place to report bugs with the latest patches?

I don't know if anyone else has seen these but on the penultimate level of the Human campaign after one of the in game cut scenes it didn't automatically go back to the game and just stayed on the last frame (I had to press escape for it to do so). Then after completing the first Undead level and seeing the summary screen the OK button didn't work and I had to force quit.

I also find that in general even with the music volume turned down the character dialogues in the cut scenes are very quiet at times and difficult to make out.

Other than those it's been very good so far.

It seems they need to do something different with the audio quickly or it could well break in 10.12 or later as I I get this in the console:

WARNING:  140: This application, or a library it uses, is using the deprecated Carbon Component Manager for hosting Audio Units. Support for this will be removed in a future release. Also, this makes the host incompatible with version 3 audio units. Please transition to the API's in AudioComponent.h.

I would try here unless the support area on Battlenet includes the classic games.

http://us.battle.net...forum/12790218/

I hope they will do some work to the actual games to fix issues like that ominous last one there which probably comes up as a compiler error if somebody actually compiled the game. I don't know if they did though where it already ran and the installer was the big problem for now. They only state that they created a new installer and that might be exactly all they did so far.

I was just cruising the linked forum briefly and noted a thread with some battlenet crash issue they couldn't reproduce but were trying to and a reference to some other issue they are fixing in the game. This was a Blizz post so the good news I get from that is they are into working on the game itself as needed which is awesome.

They have stated that the updates for Modern OS's is only the beginning. I have heard rumors the classic team is being hired up for 5-10 staff (developers, support, etc..) so it would seem that Blizzard is putting some resource behind updating their older games. They may see good return on investment here. GoG has been doing pretty good updating and selling the classics, among other retro revivals. For not a lot of investment they could go onto fuel a new generation of gamers buying these games.

Sometimes you have to be firm about these things for their own good. Remember, we are their parents, not their pals. It is our duty to bring them up right.
