SYSTEM SHOCK IS BEING REIMAGINED, AND WE'VE GOT THE FIRST LOOK

System Shock: Enhanced Edition launched in September, but developer Night Dive Studios was not content to just stop there.

The classic cyberpunk adventure, which went on to spawn a sequel and inspire Irrational Games' BioShock franchise, received a high-definition makeover, which is now available for purchase. But as Night Dive Studios' CEO Stephen Kick told Fast Company earlier this month, the company's next big project is to take the original game and completely reimagine it.

I remember playing System Shock but there was too much of a buggy problem with the controls on my system, a PPC 7100/66.  Seemed like a good game but unplayable for me.  I have high hopes for the remake.

I just bought the enhanced System Shock on GOG's Winter sale which also includes the original game. Oh, well. I guess I'll buy this one too and maybe by the time it gets a remake (a remake of the remake) I'll get to playing it even!

Those updated screens do look sweet.

For real?

That reminds me, when my youngest daughter was little I would tell her things and sometimes she'd look up at me with wide eyes and ask, "For real, real, real daddy?" Her and I still do that sometimes recalling that time.

Wow. I'm glad to read about who is doing it. On a related note I am looking forward to the upcoming Underworld Ascendant game too. I loved the originals when they were brand new. They were among the games along with Ultima VII: The Black Gate in particular that permanently hooked me on gaming. It was one happy day when Origin everything came to GOG let me tell you. :)
