The true meaning of fear: Alien: Isolation™ - The Collection stalks on to Mac and Linux September 29

I will probably get this game. The CPU requirements are low enough for my aging Mac Pro. If they can port the game to Metal, if should run even better on my slow CPUs.
But there is no "Alien Isolation - The Collection" on Steam. The DLC can be purchased à la carte. Does it mean the game won't be SteamPlay?

I'm going to guess that by the time of release, there will be a GOTY kind of product entry. Either because of the release of the Mac/Lin version, or because it will just be about that time to re-release the game as GOTY.

I loved the original movie, one of my Sci-fi icons.  However this is what I call a "cockroach game", where one plays the part of a cockroach scurrying out of the light, hiding when anything is near, and unable to confront the threat posed to it.  I can see how it would make a scary and challenging game, and I understand the attraction to such a game but man, this is just not my gaming or real-life reaction to things.  For me it has the same attraction as being locked in a shoulder width and head high tube with no O2 being supplied.

This probably. I guess "The Collection" will technically be a renamed some earlier "limited edition" bundle that contains the pre-order DLC and the Season Pass. The Shadow of Mordor GotY was similar.

I thought that, but then I remembered that I gravitate towards stealth play in games like Deus Ex. So maybe its not an absolute.

While I'd like to try this, horror is not my preferred genre. I had to be dragged to see pretty much every horror or suspense film I ever saw, including Alien. While i appreciate how good the movies are, there's only so much I can take. 2 hour movie, maybe; 20-30 hours of gameplay, maybe not.

I kind of agree with tBC on this one. Although I do love a good stealth game, those still allow you to just ... get your freak on and start 'cleaning the area' so to speak, but quietly. However being stuck in a game world, where you are running away all the time, hiding, and being pretty much useless... those kind of games don't really grab me. I had tried one, that penumbra or whatever it was called. You couldn't do jack against the monster things, and even worse you couldnt do jack against DARKNESS itself! LoL. So that game may have made me loath the genre for all future games?

Alien does look pretty though, immersive, and beautiful cool.

But if I can't be a marine, just once... to have a little FUN ... I will be hard pressed to buy that game.

I look forward to playing this on my 50" TV. Or rather, convince my girlfriend that this should be her first computer game in 20 years. And then die laughing when she screams.

Finally, a non-Firaxis Feral port that I care about. It's been a while.

I've heard that game is very good. I have it wish listed. I'm currently rebooting for Clive Barker's Jericho.

I mentioned this in the Feral thread, but the game has been delayed, unfortunately, due to some issue. No new release date, either.

Kind of weird it was delayed at the last minute. Hopefully it won't be too long.

Hm, I originally suspected a last minute problem with El Capitain, but according to Feral, the problem affects both OS X and Linux, so it can't be that.

Feral just threw up a collection of related YouTube videos. Coincidence with a near release?
