Skyrim is evil. I have 156 hours on a single character... I don't dare starting a new. Of course it's not even nearly as evil as WoW that has stolen way more time for a less immersive world.... and Fallout 3 is about equally evil as Skyrim. I really felt Oblivion and Morrowind were too hard to get into, you kind of lost track of what the heck you were doing and why all the time... in Skyrim and Fallout I didn't care, I had the time of my life anyways and tried to find even more things to get lost in before I completed the main questlines.

Playing the Witcher games now infused with some other RPGs in between (Dragon Age Inquisition and Shadowfall Returns between Witcher 1 and 2. Will see what happens between 2 and 3, but there's more Shadowfall games in my library, and Fallout New Vegas is probably squeezed in there as well), and they're (the Witcher games) also a good world to play in, but the Bethesda games really nails it. Though I've heard the Witcher 3 is somewhat the king of meaty side-quests, so I'm looking forward to that.
You shouldn't ask yourself such worthless questions. Aim higher. Try this: why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is my purpose in this universe?

(Answers: 'Cause you are. 'Cause you do. 'Cause I got a shotgun, and you ain't got one.)

Funny but true.  It's like that last teensie weensie nibble of an after dinner mint for Mr. Creosote.  Games are seldom realistic.  I had a ton of laughs at the whacky physics of Marathon, such as blowing a guy up with a SPNKR and watching his mid-explosion gut spewing corpse fly across the room, take a platform up and when at the top, flying on until it hits a wall, sticking to the wall by the force of the explosion for several seconds then falling to the deck to perform it's final gut-splop-onto-the-deck animation.  More in line with the weight limit silliness, fighting like a one man army until that last tiny sliver of health is gone whereby you fall dead to the deck.

You can always take a break and eat those five cheeses, six apples and two pork roasts to restore health. Your enemies will wait until you're done.

Hey, at least you can be interrupted while sleeping by some attacking foe.

Falling off a high cliff works right too.  Only it could do with a bit of screaming, arm flailing and praying to Crom on the way down if they really wanted to nail it.

When one starts a second new game in Skyrim, does one still have access to the first "new" game?  In other words, can I play two different character builds concurently?

It is difficult to manage multiple characters. The quicksaves overwrite each other and you have to remember the date of when you last did a full save to load a different character.

There is a mod for that.

Stellar, thanks for the heads up.  Is this mod stable?  Meaning will it frak up my game software?  I hear there are some buggy mods out there.

It just diddles the ini file to change the save file. It's barely a mod. I am very mod light though. I only use a potion weight mod and a horse speed mod.

Hey about those horses, if I buy a horse what happens after I go into a cave?  Does it hang out there until I come out, is it gone forever, or does it simply show back up that the stable you bought it from still marked as your horse?  I did steal a horse and ride one around in a temp quicksave, easy to steer and fast.

They should hang around outside the cave entrance. Unless you die. Or if you exit a different entrance. Or they get killed or run off by some wandering predator outside while you are inside.

General rule of thumb: they tend to be reliable... but dont always expect them to be there when you come back.

And then they show back up clear across outside Riften 3 days later. wotyoubeendoinghorse

OK, got it guys.  Steal a horse.  Unless that means going to jail next time I'm overwhelmed by guards.  Does the game hold a grudge against you if you commandeer a horse then release it at your destination?  It would only come in handy for exploration, otherwise I use the fast travel system.

yes, I think the horse seeing you counts as someone seeing you. horses will "snitch" on you and gain bounty. I suggest getting high up in the thieves guild and then you can just pay off your bounty for a septim. I think you can summon Arvak at any time, and he won't tell the cops on you though. And he's bad a$$.

Ack.  Looks like boots on the ground for me then.  Thanks.  Sort of reminds me of a Ren and Stimpy cartoon where they steal a horse and ride off but the horse stands up on it's back legs, walks over to the sheriff's office, then turns them in.

I imagine that is what the horse does. I don't remember what the exact quest series (is been long time since I done it) is to get Arvak, but you may want to do that just to get ol skeletal bones and not worry about it anymore.
