Aspyr has released a Mac version of Homeworld Remastered which I just saw on the Mac App Store. :)

The price is too steep for me, even if it is HW1 and HW2. I'll wait.

The MAS version has zero multiplayer, so people may also wait out and see what happens with that.

As a long-time Myth player I wanted to like HW, but I had two problems when I tried HW2. 1) Never got the hang of the camera controls. 2) I tend to build up forces a lot before beating levels. HW can punish you for this, as it makes the next level harder if you bring more forces into it. I understand the need for that, but strategy guides seemed to suggest that it wasn't completely linear, that I was effectively playing the game on a harder difficulty level. (Details vague, it's been a while.)

I wouldn't mind giving it another go though. Maybe starting with HW instead of HW2 would also help.

Homeworld 2 was pure awesomesauce when I played it on Mac 100 moons ago. I really recommend it, if you like scifi and pew pew battles.

I think I bought Homeworld 2 (boxed) from MGS way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

HW2 was fun but the story was scifi clicheville. Hopefully the story for the first is better. Will probably pick it up when it hits the steam sales again.

i was surprised Asyptr would revive this title and i had lots of childhood memories with this homeworld series ... srsly i was like 8, 11 years old before i got my teenage life ruined by everquest
also this game is supporting OSX game center achievements , this alone is enough for me to buy it

HW1 and 2 were great.....

.... only after cheating to get unlimited resources.

Thats what made it great.

What a noob. Do you also draw lines on the screen when playing Tetris?

HW2 was awesome, with a great atmosphere. I look forward to playing it again, and trying out HW1. Is it comming to MGS?

There is probably still Sharpie crosshairs drawn on his monitor from his Marathon days.

I never used a sharpie, I used two pieces of white thread with scotch tape to hold them criss crossed on the monitor.

I used a small square of clear sheet acetate to stick where you pressed it onto the monitor, it's tackiness making it stick, my crosshairs were drawn in ballpoint on the sheet.  The sheet was basically invisible except for the edges and the cross hairs.  Made it very easy to precisely line up the sights.  Did I ever tell you I absolutely hate to waste a bullet?  Sometimes I'll restart the last save if I think I've wasted too much ammo.

Must be why you love the shooters that are not so limited on ammo! So many years of counting the bullets you pick up and can put in your pocket...

Got to love that bottomless auto loading pistol in Serious Sam 3.  It keeps all my ammo levels full for that eventual boss fight.
