Half-Life 2: Update is already available on Mac. It launched normally. But there were some glitches (shaders & sounds).

When I checked Steam just now it only displays the Windows logo. I don't see anything about Mac support.

No mention of OS X for the system requirements either.

System Requirements

MINIMUM:

OS: Windows® 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP/8.1
Processor: AMD Athlon 2.4 GHz or Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 2.80 GHz
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics: DirectX® 8.1 level Graphics Card (Requires support for SSE)
DirectX: Version 8.1
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 7 GB available space
Additional Notes: Download size with Half-Life 2 installed: 3.5GB

Oh, wait!

System Requirements

RECOMMENDED:

Any Intel Apple Macintosh computer running OS X

Whew! That's a relief! It looks very nice. Hope they patch out the glitches you report.

I'm surprised, never expected it to reach our platform. Very nice, and I will definitely play this instead whenever I need to replay Half-Life 2 when Episode 3 arrives in 2024.

I just wish Cinematic Mod 2013 would make it to OS X!

Oh nice. I may have to put HL2 back on my queue then. It's one of those classics that I never got around to playing.

Thanks man. I didn't want to admit it but since you did I can hide behind you now. I haven't gotten to it either.

Half-Life 2 was and still is one of the best shooters out there. I don't really get why Half-Life 1 was such a big thing, but then again, it may have been a big thing when it came out, and not 15 years later when I got to play it, as I found it pretty generic. :P

I think it helped write the book. Now everyone else uses the same recipes and they all taste the same, so to speak.

Also, there was a big modding community around the game, which was somewhat novel at the time.

I remember the orignal only came to OS X later and I started it but got bored.

HL2 however had a few boring levels near the start then just got better and better. The additional episodes are also a must.

Tried it. It works (a few hiccups in the audio).
But now I can't launch the other HL2 games. Not sure if it's related.
