This is great finally I can play the whole history, thanks to Deep Silver and 4A Games for their love to Mac Platform.

Nice to have the first part of the story on OS X - I really enjoyed playing last light a while back - interesting story and atmosphere so jumped on the redux bundle with the release discount.

Like the last release there aren't many graphics settings available in options - and no resolution setting so I don't know if it's running at my native 1440p or not but It (The first game) is running fine so far on my old 09 Mac Pro - upgraded with Radeon 7950 Mac and 3.06GHz CPUs.

The only annoying thing is the loading screens with the narration - it can't seem to cope with playing back the audio and loading so keeps pausing and making me think it has crashed but it does eventually resume. It could do with at least waiting until it can play through the audio in full before starting....

I might try copying the game files to my boot SSD (my default Steam location is a 4TB 7200rpm mechanical disk) - some games do benefit loading data from this others not really....

Got it today. Unfortunately it seems to be unplayable on my Full HD TV driven by the 2.5GHz i7 2GB 750M rMBP 15" late 2014. It's doing maybe 10 fps even at the lowest settings. I was on a late 2010 MBP before with the 330M and Last Light was very playable... This sucks even for 9.99$

The problem there may be the CPU speed. The minimum calls for 3.2 GHz. It's entirely possible this game is CPU intensive and more cores doesn't offset slower speed.

My iMac with 775M and 3.5GHz Core i7 have the same issues with the game, only 8 to 10 FPS in menu and in game, also on the steam forums there are other, this seems a problem only affecting Nvidia cards, I hope 4A Games get this fixed as soon as possible.

Good Luck

Crap games, waste of money. Only games I actually felt upset about paying a few dollars too, as they were not even worth that much.

It's interesting that the Redux editions are sold by Fishlabs on the Mac App Store, who is known for their mobile games, rather than Deep Silver proper who continue to sell the original Metro on the Mac App Store. I wonder if that's just a publishing choice, that Fishlabs assisted in development or even a hint that Metro could be coming to iOS?

I find it more than a little annoying how little QA engineering time if any goes into certain Mac game releases before launch. How could they possibly have done even the most cursory of testing without discovering performance problems to this level on Macs?

Is it really possible that they just run the build, fire it up on a dev machine and call it gold release? Sometimes it sure looks like it.

I just tried it out... I'm amazed at how horrid the gameplay is!!! It's genuinely unplayable!!! I wonder if Last Light Redux is the same way... they did a really good job on Last Light. Oddly enough there's that "NVIDIA: The way it's meant to be played!" in the intro... :glare:

I snagged both games on the 14th after confirming that the news was legit. Couldn't resist! Metro 2033 is LITERALLY a slideshow.

I'm not giving up on it yet, but I also have a late 2012 iMac, and it's so far unplayable.

I'm wondering if these are 4A's first Mac games? There are bound to be patches forthcoming.

I also noticed a difference in performance between the two on my late 2012 iMac - with GT 650M 512MB GPU - 2033 runs in seconds per frame, not frames per second! Last Light runs at about 2-3 fps, tops, all settings to lowest possible.

Pay attention to the requirements!! Don't do as I did and figured they overstated them.

They did not!

Also, did anyone else notice the video options in 2033's options?? Despite being VERY limited in things the game lets you tweak (compared to Windows), it has a checkbox for PhysX.

Hmmmm.....ever the optimist for hardware accelerated PhysX in OS X.

Has anyone with an nVidia GPU played this yet and tried to enable PhysX?

Further, I don't know what to chalk it up to, but I fired up Last Light again an hour ago (after applying Apple's last Yosemite update), and I did notice a slight improvement in frame rate. It's still frustrating and not playable, but it was there.

It could also mean that my Time Machine backup could have been running yesterday when I got the dreadful results.

Yeah, the reception for this is pretty negative on how piss-poor it performs and runs. Its pure unadulterated crap.

Did they throw a bad game already, in a wrapper and call it a day for Mac or something? I mean, holy crap is it bad.
