So I've been playing Deadnaut a bit. I guess you could call it a team-based strategy roguelike RPG (or 'lite' RPG anyhow).

The idea is that you control a squad of redshirts volunteers who undertake realtime missions on derelict spacecraft, looking for artefacts, avoiding the monsters, that kind of thing. Succeed and you get to gear your squad up. Fail, and you will, frequently, and you're given the option to clone (i.e. resurrect) team-members, albeit with a risk of genetic mutation.

It's super atmospheric and creepy; the production values are very high. There's a pinch of Lovecraftian horror in the mix, if that floats your boat. And it's hard - the ships are procedurally generated, and the missions can be very unforgiving. But I have a whinge; there's a lot of text to read and it's absolutely tiny on the 13" screen of my MBP. My eyesight isn't that bad, but seriously, caveat emptor. Other, than that, the game is a lot of fun. Original, too.

There's a demo available. It's left-field, but interesting.
