Well at least they got it out. Unlike CodeHatch, who took everybody's money and ran on StarForge.

One of the most lucrative Early Access launches ever and after three years they somehow managed to hardly make any progress and then ran out of money.

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.

Do you have any idea how much it costs these days for good coke and decent hookers?

DX/wine/Cider noob here, EVE released a few weeks ago a graphic update which uses DX 11 and as Mac users we have all the same bling as the windows users.

So, uhm, you sure?

Absolutely sure. Wine/Cider does not support DX11 at all and even DX10 support is very incomplete. EVE Online on Mac still only uses DirectX 9.

As someone who has been using wine and cider and has ported games using both, DX10 support is far off. Even the developers of both those programs admit that. Sooner or later, it's going to become an obsolete method of porting.
Maybe it really is all cocks in the end.

Originally, I wanted to post a 1000 word essay about my current opinion about the state of the game (in short: flawed, but I'm having a ball), but I'm too tired at the moment. So I'll just post the most recent news about the Mac version and spam a few more screenshots…

From the recent newsletter:

Quote

Regarding Elite: Dangerous on Mac, as you know we have been working on putting the native Mac version of the game together and, as expected, this should enter Beta in about three months time. As the specific Beta date for this is firmed up we’ll keep you updated.

I love the reference to "The Last Starfighter" in that review.  Saw that in the theater.

Currently, yes. There will be a boxed edition (probably coming next month), that is supposed to be available more or less everywhere you can buy games on disks, but their own store is and probably will remain the only download outlet for it.

See above. The Mac beta is scheduled for March/April and then it depends on how fast they can deliver a finished port. Probably more like "Very Late Spring/Early Summer 2015".
