You mean I might be able to finally be able to multi-play-coop this game? I basically neglected it over the years since I bought it, because Solo-play is really craptastic with its constant respawn of zombies you just killed 10 minutes ago behavior. Couldn't stand it, since I'm the kind of solo player who likes to 'clear' the area before moving onward. How many times do I have to shred the same zombie to little pieces before it finally stays totally-dead™?

Sounds like a commercial for a new line of Zombie killing products from Raid or maybe Black Flag.

In Stubbs the Zombie, the term is "double-dead".

Personally I'm happy to see Deep Silver starting to bring more of their games to the Mac... could be because as they say it's similar to bringing them to Linux and because of Steam Machines they are getting more into that. Nice side effect... I'm kind of surprised it's the original Dead Island they are doing now though and not Riptide just like they did the sequel to Metro and not the original. I haven't played this at all though so I'm looking forward to playing it.

I'm interested in this game because the original game trailer for it was so awesome.  Figured it indicated talent on the team that put the game together.  I don't mind monster respawns at ALL when I get experience points and loot drops from them.  I'm normally an ammo hoarder (ever since Castle Wolfenstein 3D), and hate to waste ammo for anything.  Now assuming there were no respawns at all how would you rate this game?

It's Borderlands-meets-Zombie-Apocalypse, almost literally.

It was a decent game, good fun.  Only major dissapointment was that guns dont start being a thing until too late in the game for my tastes, but the crafting system is great (i love making throwing knives that explode after they stick).  Story is even pretty neat.

For whatever reason, though, the sequel (despite being quite literally more of the same), Riptide, wasnt that good.

Interesting.  So I get experience points and loot drops from killing zombies?  There are quests that provide experience points?  Leveling up?

Yes, yes, and yes. You get XP for all those things. It's good fun. You level up 1-50 and get skillpoints each time. Every character (1 of 4) has 3 skill trees. Some of the skills are a bit blah, but most are good. I'm a big fan of the game and have played it a lot on PC. Looking forward to getting it on Mac and having a new solid coop game for the Mac community.

Yeah, i had a lot of fun with the original game.  I have -no- idea why Riptide fell so flat with me since it was quite literaly the -exact- same game, just continued/more of.

Yes, it's coming to the Mac courtesy of Virtual Programming.

We have partnered to bring both Dead Island and SpecOps: The Line recently.

Yes, Sacred 3 pl$. Probably a little late for a SR port. Though there's a dearth of Mac compatible sandboxy games. Might do well.

DiRT Showdown and Dead Island aren't the newest games either. (SR3 is about as old as Dead Island and SR4 is quite recent.)

75% Off on Steam right now... they've also slipped (?) and put preliminary Mac system requirements without listing it as available for Mac.

Minimum:

Processor: Intel Core i5 2.7 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVidia GeForce GT 640M 512MB

EDIT: It is listed as Mac compatible, on sale, but the main game only, for now...
