This kickstarter is for developing a game that's going to be something like City of Heroes was, the next stretch goal is releasing the game for Mac at launch.

Sounds like you must be involved? Or are very very eager for it and are spreading the good vibes around.

Nah, I'm not involved, so I guess I'm the second one. Personally I think there are far too few games for Mac and CoH used to be one until it got shut down.

Yeah, the MMO market is pretty darn slim for mac. There are a few I wish would come over to mac, because they are pretty decent and would even run well on laptops.

The CoH/CoV wre good enough games... with a lot of rough edges. But if one got involved in them, those edges tend to fade due to pure interest. This game you linked above though seems interesting. If done well, and they dont drop a bunch of ideas due to lacking coders/support/money... I think it will be a decent hit.

Agreed, on all points. GW2 is on Mac if I'm not mistaken, but I'll not touch another NCSoft game for a long while, if ever. Stinks to have spent so long in an mmo just to have it shut down due to some vauge reason.

i believe the reason for CoH being shut down was "It's not making us enough money.

It is no longer enough for companies to make a profit, they have to make enough/more profit, or they are "losing" money.

Elder Scrolls Online is coming to Mac, so there's another MMO. Does GW2 still have players?

You mean has the MMO Zerg moved on?

I really liked GW but something about GW2 just didn't do it for me. I tend to be more of a local/LAN multiplayer kind of guy and I think that sort of coop RPG rather than MMO aspect of GW was appealing to me.

I did break down and buy FF XIV with a 25% off code I had at gamefly last week. It's very pretty, and I can't help but think this story was everything FF XIII wasn't, why couldn't this be a single player RPG instead of great story being hamstrung by traditional MMO mechanics. *sigh*
