This is a joke, right?

BTW, the topic title should be switched to "via" not vis. Typo.

No, it's not a joke.  Why would it be?  The old games on gog.com that run on the Mac are wrapped with either DOSBox or WINE.

It's WINE in this case.

I'll wait till it's SteamPlay, hopefully by Steam's summer sale.

There's absolutely no point to that.  It's $5 on gog.com now, with no DRM at all, and you can download the Mac or Windows version, or both. (Although technically it's the Windows version in either case, just wrapped for the Mac.)

There's no DRM for the Steam version, either, and I prefer having my games there.

You can also just _add_ the game to your steam library ;)

I'm trying to mod the GOG version with mods like HD textures and Rebirth. Any help with that? I've tried and failed so far :P

I know, but I like auto updates and downloading within steam. I realize I'm being somewhat irrational. I do have games on gog, but I like to get them from Steam if I can.

Speaking of Looking Glass Studios, a bundle of the first three Thief games are on sale at GOG. Comes out to $2.50 each, less than the non-sale price of one of them. Windows-only unfortunately, but they have run under Wine in the past.

A curiosity: I picked up the Thief bundle, hoping to get at least one of them working under Wine or VMWare. The download page for Thief1 has empty placeholders for where a Mac download would go. Probably a mistake, or a remnant of something that didn't pan out, but interesting nonetheless.

I also picked up System Shock 2 for a buck. Thanks for that tip..
