Super sorry Janichsan.  I promise we are working as fast as humanly possible (including weekends).

I'm sure you all noticed that War in the North AND Sim City are hitting the same day.  Yeah...didnt plan on that.  May be one of the biggest Mac gaming release days ever.  Can't wait to play War in the North!

I hope well, because that's what I have in the office :)

Edwin?  What can we expect on MBP performance for some Lord of the Rings goodness?

Pre-Orders on MGS dropped the price down. All prior pre-orders have been adjusted to match.

I just finished a few hours of this game. Wow. Despite it not running as super fluid as I'd like on my setup (do not read that as it being choppy!), changing it to Medium doesn't yield enough of a difference and the gameplay/combat doesn't suffer at max settings. I do find it odd that, at 16:10 ratio, there's no native 1680x1050 in the menu, 1600x1000 is the highest. Looks fine, though. I've no PC/PS3/XBOX precedence to compare but the graphics are superb. I wish I could post attachments!

Looks they limited the resution on nVidia cards for performance reasons, but should be resolved in mavericks and 10.8.5. From MacRumors, Aspyrblair:

Quote

This is correct. We were seeing issues with NVIDIA cards on upper-end resolutions and after many weeks of optimization, we elected to remove some of the upper end resolutions at launch. Luckily Bioshock scales extremely well, so the difference is very slight.

That said...we are seeing better performance with 10.8.5, and we are very much looking forward to Mavericks which will introduce the new OpenGL support. We expect to be able to add back in the resolutions soon with those updates.
