Banner Saga on Steam....Its an absolutely beautiful game made by some friends of ours here in Austin.

The version out now is just the free to play multiplayer version to get everyone going on gameplay.  The full RPG/TBS version will be out soon.

Oh....and Bioshock Infinite

Blair used to be hardcore.

I'm playing the Feed the Beast Minecraft mods, Heart of the Swarm and PuzzleCraft on iOS.

The other thing I forgot to mention, is that the puzzles seem to be the gimicky-physics type that we got in the AC series and not likes ones I would think you would get in the older TR games.

I also think Frost is right on, what he is talking about above.

That said, if you hate Uncharted, you may not like this one (I loved Uncharted 1 and 2, was meh on 3). It is very close in gameplay style, although Lara isn't involved in quite as many insanely lopsided shootouts as Nate, and the game's much more open and less on rails. The combat also comes in fits and starts in between exploration segments, rather than being mostly nonstop as with Uncharted. It'd best compare to Uncharted 1, and parts of 2. Definitely not 3.

Puzzle segments are there-ish, but nothing on the level of the previous Tomb Raiders, and that certainly was disappointing.
...
But it is a good deal more action/adventure than puzzle-solving this time 'round.
I wouldn't say I hated the Uncharted games, they just failed to keep me really interested.

The puzzle solving was always an essential part of a Tomb Raider game for me. The lack of it in the new Tomb Raider is definitely a reason for me to not being interested in it much. I might pick it up when it's cheap some time, but not any time soon.

Still playing Assassin's Creed II -- I'm 22 hours into the game and still like it.

But I can't understand how Ubi Soft manages to sell the same core game mechanic
year after year just with a different setting.

It's just as bad as EA's sports games or Call of Duty. Sometimes, mainstream gamers
really do my head in.

Well I'm not really sure what you could implement in sports games, but ya most games are very stagnant.

I think the reason why Assassin's Creed can pull it off is because the setting is a huge part of the game, so simply changing the settings make's the game seem fresh. I want to feel like an assassin in Venice, or the Middle East. 4 will let me be a pirate, that's kind of awesome.

About to begin Heart of the Swarm campaign, but can someone tell me how to set up a sandbox game now? The UI is confusing to me since the recent updates. Of course, I haven't played in a while, so I don't know when it changed.

Despite my resolution to reduce my backlog, I ended up playing UT '99 again. Damn, that game is still good.

I've had to delete Civilization 4 in order to attack my backlog. Progress requires drastic measures sometimes!

Speaking of backlogs, a couple of months ago I went through a total of 13 games I'd started but never finished, and finished them.  Some of them I continued from where I left off, some of them (mostly the ones I'd started years ago) I started over from the beginning.  Yay for finishing things!  One of them was so old I'd originally started playing it on my Amiga (Heretic II).

...and just started to play Wargame European Escalation (I noticed that game is on sale in the MGS). Holy crap, that learning curve is really steep. On the plus side: the game reminds me a lot of Close Combat of yore, which is a good thing.

You gotta love backlogs. And the crazy thing is, they keep on growing!

My plan is to finish off Assassin's Creed II tonight or tomorrow and then move back to The Book of Unwritten Tales.

I also started BioShock in preparation of the Infinite release in summer.

But my biggest project for the next week is definitely Deus Ex Human Revolution. I bought it right after release from the Mac App Store and never got around to play it.

Oh, did I mention my fiancee is on vacation for a week? :-)

Maybe you should reconsider that marriage, if she needs a vacation from you.. ;)

Ha ha, not really. Her family lives 1000 miles away from our place and I need to get some work done this week. So no holidays for me. :)
