That came out of the blue: the very detailed "Cold War gone Hot" real-time strategy game "Wargame: European Escalation", which was released early last year for Windows, got a Mac version today, available on Steam. The game got overall good reviews.

It's fairly good, I find, but doesn't half drop you in at the deep end! As a result, I've really not progressed too far...

Looks good & apparently poses lots of tough challenges. Also getting some very favourable early reviews from Mac gamers on other forums. Will definitely check it out when I've more time on my hands.

Wow, looks nice. I'm in.
Steam? MAS (does it include the four free DLCs on Steam?)? Or standalone download via the dev's own game store? What say everyone? (I'll grab this tonight, maybe break my World of Tanks via BootCamp addiction.)
Also, is this both single-player and multi-player online, right?

When "download from dev" is an option, I'd generally recommend that, since probably almost all of what you're paying is going directly to the dev instead of a chunk going to some third party, and you usually get minimal or no DRM.

...went to Download Now option and it looks like it's still handled through a third party to purchase a product key do download from Steam.

Steam it is then. Downloading now. Playing, and ...
7/12 stars and a win (barely) on my first game. Look and runs nicely on my older iMac. Lots of daily action in the MP games by the look of the games played (2,700+ today).
There doesn't appear to be a way to rotate the camera view, though.

11/12 (?) I think on the second solo game. Got a much better handle on tactics, how you actually get to field reinforcements, and unit upgrades with the stars. Enjoying this.

So, I kinda just discovered this game and am having the hots. It feels like the old Close Combat series. I can't decide if I should get it now or wait for a steam sale. The new game is due soon I think, so they may put this on sale as well? Is there an active community still?
