As I mentioned, the 5870 is superior to the 6750M (by a lot, actually).  There is no card you can put in your Mac Pro that's better than the 5870, at least not without resorting to flashing PC cards.

Glad I still have the most kicking video card for my model Mac, and thanks for responding to my question about it, but I am too spooked by the fact that they specifically mentioned that the game "will not run" on my ATI Radeon HD 5870.  If I can find someone with an ATI Radeon HD 5870 who played the game without problems then that's good enough for me.  Have any of you ATI Radeon HD 5870 no-necks out there played this game?

Wanna know whats weird? Witcher 2 shows that it runs on the 5770 (which is lower than yours).

Now, how can an OLDER game (a prequel) have a higher card spec ?!?! This makes no sense!

I'm going to have to bug tuncer, or the publishers for a clear answer. Witcher 1 shows it runs on INTEL HD cards? Heh. So, yeah, something isn't adding up right.

Seems to run fine on my 11 inch MacBook Air with the Intel 4000.

What you said Fm, I was blown away to see my card listed.  Let me know what you come up with.  It just doesn't seem right.

Wait a second. I purchased this when it appeared on Steam earlier this year and other than the occasional crash (which was normal for anybody) the game ran perfectly fine with my ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB. These requirements say it doesn't.

Does this perhaps mean maybe there's hope that The Witcher 2 will run on my system? According to the Mac Game Store I also meet the requirements everywhere except for the graphics card, just like The Witcher 1.

I'm sure it'll be fine. There's only a very minor performance hit in OS X for me with my 5850 compared to Windows, which I don't think is very different from a 4850. I have double the vram, though.

Go ahead and try it, the game is SteamPlay-enabled.

How about the 4870? On the MacGameStore app it says no.

The 4870 is slightly more powerful than the 5770, although only has 512MB of VRAM

The Witcher!

Cool game.
Downloading.

I haven't been gaming much recently, but I remember this as being a game that I wished it was available for the Mac when it came out. Even without that member, Fm recommending a game is enough to make me want to check it out.

BTW: I like the new MGS app. Good work.

It doesn't say that anymore because Fm changed the text, saying he was going to check with the powers that be.  I'm waiting for him to respond, meanwhile UmarOMC1 says it's flawless, so I'm pretty much on board now.
