On the heels of Aspyr Media's release of Call of Duty: Black Ops for Mac, the Game Agent Blog has posted a new survival guide for the first person shooter. The game features CoD: Black Ops and the First Strike Content Pack, which includes 4 new multiplayer maps as well as an "exciting zombie experience", complete with its own multiplayer map.

Use Teamwork

Don’t be THAT guy. You know that guy who just runs around doing whatever the hell he wants for points and dies a billion times because of it. Unless you are a pro, you should be using teamwork with everyone on your side. Communicate with your teammates and don’t all pick the same killstreaks. For instance, someone using the spy plane will reveal targets on the map which other killstreaks can take advantage of like mortar or napalm strikes. Plus, letting your teammates know where all the enemies are is helpful.

In fact, Black Ops is more generous in doling out experience points for team-based actions so it works out in your favor. Additionally, being a part of the winning team that goes on a victory streak as opposed to the #1 player of the game will in all likelihood level you up faster than being a one-man army.

Step 1: Buy a new Mac

Nothing portable. iMacs and MacPro towers ONLY. Seriously. Hit the Aspyr website and take a look. The limit placed on what graphics cards will work with this game are insane. A brand new Retina display MacBookPro with a 1GB of video RAM is NOT supported by Aspyr. It's like they don't even want to sell Mac games anymore.

Are you sure? Supported means that. For example you can play DeusEX Human Revolution with Intel HD3000 even if it is not supported.

No, he's not sure. He's just raging without doing a single bit of research. If you would look around IMG, Mac Rumors or the Black Ops / Aspyr Facebook pages its very clear you can run this game on unsupported hardware. It does run on an intel HD3000, or even a Nvidia GMA 320.

Of course it would be nice if Aspyr acknowledged this officially, but oh well.

If my tone is harsh its because I'm kind of sick of answering this question/notion. I spent days chasing everyone down in all the above mentioned places telling them it will run fine if you are under-spec. People should try looking after a point.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is an excellent port, I haven´t had a single problem with it.

I have everything on max/high @ native res and there is no sign of any stuttering at all, the only reason the new macbooks aren´t supported is because of the gpu driver. The 650m it self is more than powerful enough to run the game, and the one in the rMBPs are over clocked by Apple. If you don´t believe me, install windows and test some games there with a working driver and you´ll see for your self that the 650m OC is a decent mobile gpu. Once Nvidia(with help from Aspyr(and feral)) releases a proper mac os X driver for the m650 it will be supported by Aspyr. Aspyr-Ryan or Aspyr-Blair(can´t remeber whom) has said that they are testing the driver out as we type and that there is quite a significant performance boost with it, but that it needs to go through many loops in order to be released thanks to Apple and their rulebook.
