Yeah, other than a HUUUUUGGGEEE spike in traffic when MacRumors posted front page news... its been going fairly smooth and well today. Just some minor lil things I been fixing up as I see them, but generally working very well.

Congrats on making the front page of MR. I saw the news there first, and came here to congratulate.

Not sure what your marketing campaign is, but it'd be good to remind consumers that you have a much larger Mac library then Steam.

Also, I noticed that when you go to the website, press Community > Forum. It routes you to a special forum only for Mac Game Store. Why not route to this forum?

I think what would make MGS the absolute be-all end-all of Mac games would be if it could go a sort of GOG route and be totally DRM free, and amass a solid back-catalog of classic Mac games.

Can completely understand if it doesn't have the clout with publishers to make that fly, though... just saying. :)

Hehe... GOG doesn't have the clout either, they just hijack and wrongfully post games and take all the money for themselves. You think they are paying royalties on all those games they have posted? Nope. ;)

That allegation again. Any substantiation?

More on topic: that makes three dedicated applications on my Mac just for buying games (four if you count the MAS)... But the new MGS app is very nice and sleek. Congratulations on this. If only Steam were like that... :pinkpony:

For the record: I am only a developer for Mac Game Store, not an owner, or partner, so I have no allegiances expressed or implied. As a customer, I prefer companies I can trust. GOG aint one of them and will never give them my info let alone money as they have done nothing to convey legitimacy to me. That is all. PS: I'm a huge steam user on the PC ;)

Yeah, Steam for Mac is very... meh. MGS app is much nicer.

Why should I? I'm not making wild accusations. What happened to "innocent until proven guilty"?

All I know is: GOG.com sits in an EU country and is owned by a company sitting in a different EU country. Were they involved in selling pirated games, they would quickly taken down. They have deals with the current license holders of the games to sell them on GOG.com. None of the companies whose games they sell (Atari, Ubisoft, EA, Interplay, many others) appears to have any problem with GOG.com — and some of them are usually very vocal about piracy and the like. No one else all around the internet seems to have anything bad to say about GOG.com.

That either means that you have some knowledge that no one else appears to have and everyone else is naive or that you are simply seeing things.

I agree, what happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? I also want to know what GoG did to Frigidman to earn his distrust. Maybe someone from GoG stole his girlfriend. ;) You know.. those allegations could be considered pretty slanderous and libel.

Also I'm sure companies like Remedy wouldn't make deals with them to release their games on there if they where shady nor would they just sit by while they make unauthorized releases of Alan Wake & Alan Wake's American Nightmare for example.

By the way, Steam  doesn't look too bad if you apply the Aquatic Night skin. Although that skin needs updating for the latest Steam betas. They have since fixed the mouse scrolling in the Steam client so that's no longer an issue.

Also, I wonder how a GOG style store for Mac would work considering many many old Mac games simply don't work on modern operating systems or hardware. Some games where even obsoleted long before OS X ditched Rosetta such as Omni Groups games which where only playable on 10.5 or below since they used a prototype version of transgaming's software* that broke after 10.5. The only ways I can see it working is to make a deal to wrap the PC version of those old games or somehow make a deal for and acquire the source code to all those games and do a brand new port. The former is probably a lot easier than the latter.

*Their stuff also had bugs that have long since been fixed in WINE or Cider so it's for the best that they don't work any more. Such as bugs that caused performance problems in AvP2 that have been specifically fixed sometime last year in WINE.

Any green Buy Button you see, click the down arrow on the right. Select "Send as Gift".

I'm currently working on gifted games being instantly applied to another account on purchase if that account exists. However right now, all gifted games go to the recipient as a Claim Code they use at http://www.macgamestore.com/gifts/ .
