On a related note, I've yet to encounter any bugginess in the game client itself, which is very promising.

Oh, just one thing, though... if you use Safari, you may find that some features of the GW2 web site won't function properly, most significantly the purchasing, registration, and login pages. That's what happened in my case, anyway. With FireFox or Chrome everything works fine.

I have a hard time understanding why we have to use a i5 processor, when all other games run smoothly on a duo 2 processor.

GW2 runs silky smooth on my 27" iMac (2.8 GHZ Core i7, 4GB Ram, and an ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB, running Mountain Lion), at 2560 x 1440 with almost all graphics settings (including FSAA) maxed out.
I wonder how you can say that when the game even drops in performance for me sometimes in Windows 7 on a Core i7 920@2.66 GHz, 12 GB RAM and Nvidia GTX 670 graphics with 2 GB VRAM on 1920 x 1200. I have everything maxed out and it's around 50 FPS mostly, but in complex scenes it's definitely around 20 FPS.
If you press the "esc” and then click ”Options” when looking at a complex scen, what FPS do you get i the settings window (should say in lower leof or lower right of that settings window)?

Appears to be in the same range for me, overall... around 26 in very complex scenes. But no visual lag, no tearing. My processor speed is a little higher at 2.8 GHz, but that seems marginal. It certainly feels silky smooth to me—I've encountered no situation in the game so far where I felt that it was stuttering. It does make my Mac run pretty hot, though, and the fans come on after a relatively short time. Hopefully, that'll get better once it's out of the beta stage. Nonetheless, I'm happy with it.

Excellent that you're happy with the game's performance on OS X.
Silky smooth to me is when the frame rate per second is at 60.

Maybe I should have been less exuberant and just said "smooth." Hmmm... perhaps it's time to load up a little extra ram, and I'll get closer to silky!

Just a question.
I have a 3.06GHZ 2 DUO
12 GB 1066MHZ DDR3 SDRAM
and a ATI RADEON HD 4850 512mb grafik card
They recommend an i5 on their homepage.
Any of you guys know if i can run the game decently or have any experience running the beta, with a similare mac?
Hope you can help.
