A post on the official forums purports to show the beta release notes for the Mac client. It's posted by a regular user, not a Turbine rep, so it's possible that it's not legit, but OTOH the quote looks believable.

If this is true, that may mean the Mac client will launch as soon as the Riders of Rohan expansion next month.

Heh, the post is gone. So that tells us… something? ;)

This isn't the first evidence that a Mac client is coming though; there were some mysterious OpenGL-related files added by a patch recently. Much the same way people figured out that Valve was developing Steam for Linux before they announced it.

not surprising... it was stuff copied and pasted from a Mac-Beta forum listing out system requirements to run the beta and stuff... several people were telling the person to remove the info that it had to stay in the beta forums...

How native was the "native Mac client" supposed to be? Really native or fake native?

I would say that initial OpenGL support is a good sign for native support.

And now, time for some Legend of Zelda.

The post that was copied and pasted from the beta forum specifically said it was native and OpenGL and listed what features it wouldn't support from DX10/11... leading me to believe they were making it OpenGL 2.1 which is kind of stupid since the requirements said OS X 10.7 or 10.8 ... meaning they'd have the possibility of using 3.2.

That could also hint at a non-native version, since – as far as I know – Wine/Cider does not support any DX10/11 features and uses OpenGL 2.1 (at least on the Mac).

The NDA has been lifted and this is now confirmed. The bad news is that the expansion has been delayed by a month.

Good news: RoR has launched.
Bad news: The Mac client isn't ready yet.
More bad news: RoR crashes at launch in WINE/CrossOver.
Good news: Someone has already submitted a patch to WineHQ that seems to fix the problem.

TUAW has posted an article about the Mac client.

The interesting part is that they say an open beta will be launching this week.
