Yeah, it seems that one of the most "successful™" and "bestselling®" shooter® series is making its "triumphant™" return to the Mac™: Aspyr has announced that Call of Duty® – Black Ops™ (the first one™) will be released soonish®.

I think Aspyr's lawyers forgot to add a "2" when they signed the contract.  :(

I knew this was coming :P

Not really..but I figured it would be sometime this year, I look forward to doing a preview once Aspyr lets me get my paws on it. I never played it on PC.

Well here's hoping it's a lot more optimized than the original release. Even PC players had troubles with it and asked if part 2 was going to be more optimized on PC.

Ran like popsnizzle for me on cider even after turning down the settings although I blamed it on cider at the time.

So excited about this. Any real big AAA title that comes to the mac is a massive plus in my book :)

The only sad thing is that it isn't the latest from the franchise. Hopefully if sales go well (which I'm sure they will) this will pave the way for more closer releases to Console and Windows counterparts and even better games. This really could be the title which will demonstrate to the world whether Mac users are worthy or not.

Fingers crossed people see it the same way we do :)

Not to worry Asypr is currently working on CODBO 2 for release in 2014.

The COD4 port was quite poor so hopefully they'll aim higher.

I bought the game for £6 on PS3 so I most likely won't buy this version. I hope they'll do Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier though. Been a long time since we got a Ghost Recon title.

The CoD4 port runs fine on my system, and  benchmarks you can find on various sites indicate it runs basically as well as the Windows version.

While absolutely hating the game, I thought the port to be very solid: it performed extremely well on my machine back then and was absolutely stable.

Since TCGRFS is a Ubisoft game, it's very likely Ubi will do it themselves (and probably drop the ball as they did on the Windows version).

I did read that the PC vernon of GRFS was a fail on launch but Ubisoft was working to resolve the issues. If it it ever comes to Mac, in theory those issues will be fixed, though given Ubisofts spotty track record, the Mac port will probably have its own set of issues.

Well the first version, which I finished the game using, ran fairly crap for me.

In my experience COD4 worked very good on many machines (we used to play it at Mac lan party). I hope this new version will be even better!! For sure it will require Lion at least to use the new 3D drivers.
