Harebrained Schemes has announced the release of the first episode in a serial story for fans awaiting the release of Shadowrun Returns. The role playing game will return players to the Shadowrun universe which features a mixture of cyberpunk tech and high fantasy magic. The developers promise the 2D turn-based single player game will include "deep story interaction, meaningful character development, and highly-contextual tactical combat."

The Shadowrun Returns gears are turning. The sounds of dice rolling and game mechanics mechanic-ing dance about our office with delightful frequency. Things are coming along beautifully so far thanks to you all!

We're so grateful for your contributions that we wanted to a little something just for you. A brainchild of our own Jordan Weisman and the author Malik Toms, "Nothing but Fluff and Smoke" is a story (posted in a series of twelve installments) about-- you guessed it-- the usual dragons, Orks and harrowing adventures, and... a kitten.

We have to emphasize that nothing in this story reflects gameplay dynamics or story in the upcoming Shadowrun Returns, but it does keep the classic Shadowrun tone, and it even mentions a few of you backers and HBS supporters!
