Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Blizzard Entertainment's action RPG sequel, Diablo III. The game once again returns players to the demon plagued world of Sanctuary, where they must take up arms against the hosts of hell.

Here's an excerpt:

On the presentation end, the graphics are just as amazing as you'd expect from a Blizzard game. Simple, but recognizable player and monster models roam the lands, with hundreds of particles and beams flying everywhere as hammers hit shields and death rays hit flesh. If you switch out a skill rune for another, the color or animation of the skill will change. If you dye your armor, you can even create a perfect set of holy white or aquamarine to match. There are also a wide variety of unique monster models, which are tinged blue or yellow to represent their respective eliteness when necessary. The world looks great.

It should be noted that while the review mentions that public games have been "linked on the forums" to account compromises, those links have all been by parties other than Blizzard, and have been rigidly debunked, thus far. Fradulently complaining of an account compromise seemed to have developed into a new form of forum trolling shortly after the game's release, and in the case of session-spoofing in particular, Blizzard's assessment of the claims they have received so far is that not only has it not taken place, but that it can't take place as described.

In D2 you could assign stat points, not sure why the review says you couldn't.

Yeah I noticed something about that too. Not sure if Franklin had a typo slip in where it appears that Stats and Skills got slightly muddled in this and elsewhere in the review. I commented elsewhere on this website too.

Aside from that I enjoyed reading the review very much. Good effort.

I thought it showed a sense of insight that Franklin glossed over the problems logging in etc around launch time. Most online games have similar problems and some memorable problems with mega-hit online console first person shooters come to mind.

While I am ambivalent so far about the hacking problems and Franklin was a bit less ambivalent, I agree that it rated a mention, even though it was a game review article. Even if most of the complaints are totally unjustified it remains a big issue in the official Diablo forums and even some fan sites are speculating too.
