I wonder what engine they are planning on using? Using Skyrim's engine would indicate a higher level of graphics than most MMOs target and opens the door to Mac support for Skyrim and other future non-MMO Elder Scroll games. (Will there be anymore non-MMO Elder Scroll games?) Will they be using Cider?

ZeniMax Online Studios is the company developing the MMO, Bethesda is not.
Bethesda Softworks is the publishing branch of ZeniMax Media and does publishing and distribution for all brands.
Bethesda Game Studio is the branch that Develops the actual games, SkyRim, Fallout etc.
The engine is a internally developed cross platform MMO engine / Tool set, It is not the same as the Bethesda Engine.
The Mac port is a proper port, not w Wine wrapper or emulation library.

Because years back...
Hero Press Release
The internet then runs with it.
Unfortunately 90% of the speculative posts at the end of game news stories are just plain wrong
and / or are written with no understanding of how the actual game industry works.
One of my favorite examples I see over and over is "This MMO will Suck, Because Star Wars Sucked, Because It was based on the Hero Engine and that sucked etc"
The truth is know one has yet to ship anything on the Hero engine out of the box.
Every large company using it had the source code and did heavy modifications to make a AAA level Game.
The same goes for many console games that say they used Engine X.
A lot of the time the engines are a starting point to get up and running and then are heavily modified.
