Today is the release day for Feral Interactive's Mac version of the first-person role-playing game Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Ultimate Edition. Developed by Eidos Montreal and published by Square Enix for games consoles and Windows PC, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a prequel to the classic Deus Ex.

The Mac release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Ultimate Edition contains the Explosive Mission and Tactical Enhancement packs, as well as The Missing Link DLC.

Set in 2027, Deus Ex: Human Revolution immerses players in a world where amoral corporations market biomechanical modifications that blur the boundary between man and machine. The player controls Adam Jensen, the security chief of biotech company Sarif Industries, who has been forced to undergo extensive cybernetic augmentation after a terrorist attack on the company.

To find those responsible, the player must explore the full potential of Adamís augmented body and develop it to suit their playing style. Every situation can be approached either by focusing on one of the four pillars of gameplay - combat, stealth, hacking and social - or by deploying an artful combination of all four.

Deus Ex: Human Revolutionís engrossing plot puts players in strikingly inventive visions of Detroit, Shanghai and Montreal, where they must scrutinize everything to uncover the secrets behind a global conspiracy that threatens everyone, from the purely human underclass to the augmented elite.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution has enjoyed huge critical and commercial success on its original release platforms. The Windows version has an average Metacritic rating of 90 out of 100 and has sold over 3 million units to date.

Minimum System Requirements:
  • 2.0GHz Intel Mac
  • 4GB RAM
  • 20GB free Hard Drive space
  • 256MB or better graphics card
  • Mac OS X 10.7.3 or later.
  • The following graphics cards are not supported:
    • ATI X1xxx series
    • ATI HD2xxx series
    • NVIDIA 9400
    • NVIDIA 7xxx series
    • NVIDIA 320M

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Ultimate Edition for the Mac retails in North America for $49.99.

I'm waiting for my boxed cop of this to ship, as well as another game I ordered from Feral at the same time I preordered this.

It's funny how the colors of the real world only seem really real when you viddy them on the screen.

I've already played through the whole game about a month ago on a preview build. (I'm the reviewer on this so I got it early.) Even the beta build I had gave me no trouble, and the game was smooth and bug free throughout. (See my signature for specs.) Look for the review this coming Monday.

Too bad about the mouse issues. I have a  wireless Logitech trackball, but I didn't have to install any software to use it. I suspect that's why it was fine. Offhand it seems like if you are just playing with a plug-and-play mouse/device you will be fine.

I'm pretty disappointed with the mouse issue.  I didn't realise it until I booted the game up and my mouse didn't work at all and then I checked the support page.  Un-installing my mouse software that covers/programs 10 different buttons/functions is not really an options for me.  Hopefully there will be a patch by the time I finish Bioshock 2 and get around to playing this.  Otherwise I'm not sure what I'll do - either chock it up to a lost cause or ask for my money back I guess...

I had some mouse trouble in the beginning but its now only slightly annoying going from game to main screen where it slows down.
Meh, not a big deal here.

Have more trouble with the double functions per key. Trying to drag a guy away and instead I'm going through his pockets. MEEP! Damn, I'm seen = dead.

Pretty impressed sofar and laughed my socks off about a certain email I found in an office. Going to town now for the first time. Jeebus is that big! o.0  :o

Make sure to hold down the E key as just a tap of the key does the search, and you have to hold it down to drag them.

There's several really funny office emails throughout the game, but you'll have to hack all the computers to find them :P
