Superbrothers has announced the upcoming Mac release of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. The exploratory action adventure game will be coming to Macs before June 20th. In Sword & Sworcery players enter battle with their sword, and solve musical mysteries with the power of "sworcery."

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is an exploratory action adventure videogame with an emphasis on audiovisual style. Traverse a mythic little realm, use a sword to do battle & evoke sworcery to solve mystical musical mysteries. Co-operate with friends via Twitter, experience a videogame world that is affected by moon phases & help a wandering warrior monk complete her woeful errand.

The project launched in spring 2011 for iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad on the App Store, with the album available on vinyl & audiocassette. It has since been warmly received by audiences & critics. A year later in the spring of 2012, a new edition of S:S&S EP for the electric computer was made available for PC on Monday, April 16th 2012 at 4:24pm. This new edition includes Jim Guthrie's legendarily epic record S&S LP. This same edition will be available for Mac 'before the summer solstice'.

I'm slightly baffled that the Mac version comes so much later. I would have expected porting from iOS to OS X would have been easier than porting to Windows...

Anyway, I always wondered if I am the only one who thinks this game is rather overrated. I surely enjoyed the game on the iPhone, but I thought it to be rather shallow.

Interesting, but I'm actually put off by the retro look in this one. I enjoy it in some games (such as Lone Survivor) but not here.

I played it and liked it on my iPad. Probably won't spend the $ on the OSX version, though. decent game and all but lots of others to play.
