I started up my Heroes of Might & Magic IV again, and I was wondering if your hero with the Nobility skill needs to stay in the castle by the seventh day to get the bonus for the next week? Or does he/she give the town the bonus anyways when they are selected governor?

I was wondering how you destroy/remove the grey pillars (with gargoyles too) that sometimes block paths or front of castles that you are about to capture. Do you have to complete some quests for this? I have noticed this happening on custom maps from heroesportal.
