Anyone played/have any thoughts on this one?  Noticed it at Steam the other day and it looks pretty cool/reasonably priced.  It would really be sweet if the similar Orcs Must Die got a Mac port.

Well the first page does contain some thoughts and info :P I'm assuming you've read that.

It is similar to orcs must die and a few other similar games which allow you to have a hero to fight the monsters in addition to towers. I think orcs must die doesn't have any multiplayer though. Dungeon Defenders is meant to be played co-op. Solo mode is there but somewhat boring I've found.

It may be just me but I'm getting a lot of "lost connection to host" errors, which is making it difficult to stick with a MP match for more than a round or two. I'm working on the review for this, maybe up in a few days. So far its fun for $15, though not quite as thrilling as I expected.

As someone who has already played around twenty hours of the game. I have found that (for some configs more than others) solo is just not an option. The design of the maps and mechanics are that one nearly has no option but to play with others. As I have been lucky enough to not get any dropped connection errors, and have had enough friends on Steam who play the game, I have found it very fun. Even more fun than I thought it would be. …then again, I had no impressions of what the game would be like when I first bought it. I am forty levels in (on the current seventy-eight level cap) and it is still very fun. I have although only really been solely leveling one character.

Managing to play for a few hours this afternoon with no drops. Just random people in MP but still fun. I have 2 characters leveled to near 20, Squire and Huntress so far. I briefly tried out the wizard and monk out of curiosity, but they don't appeal to me as much as the other classes.

I like the variety of defenses and traps everyone has, my only complaint so far is that I wish the heroes had more personal hero skills. Overall everyone just has 2, and that gets kind of boring after a point. Would be fun to see like 4 per hero. That being said I know they released DLC characters to be counterparts to each main hero (male hunter, female wizard, etc) and they have new skills, so that's something.

I discovered that if you have multiple heroes on one account, you can use them all during the build phase. In other words, if you have an Apprentice, you can call him in to place towers, then switch to a Huntress and lay her traps, ad nauseum. Pretty cool way to power level yourself, or get past particularly tricky waves you might be facing.

If you get a chance to try the barbarian, it is very different than the other classes. He can't build towers, but instead acts as a melee-based wrecking machine who can tear through creep waves - think of a fury warrior from WoW, stance-dancing and all. His lack of towers, though, means he must team up with a pretty diverse crew who can build defenses.
