Heheh, I have a wraparound shelf at the top of my closet and it's filled with a giant collection of diagonally standing Mac game boxes. It hasn't really grown since the heyday of PPC gaming, but some new boxes might find their way up there soon. (I became significantly more feminine on Saturday; see the addition to my signature, second from the top).

I prefer a physical copy of the game, when possible. Since the old days of nifty manuals, cloth maps, and cool doodads in the boxes are pretty much gone (except for the occasional over priced Collector's Edition), it isn't as important to me as it once was. Of course, in most cases there isn't much choice these days.

I bought a damn gerl's computer. I'm even typing it on this. It even autocorrects my typing and changes "gerl's" to "germ's." I guess x86 is such a wussy boy it still thinks girls have cooties. Then again, girls get bitchy once a month and correct your speech just to annoy you, and that's what this one is doing. Cypher never does this; if I typo, then it just points it out but it otherwise assumes I MEANT that popsnizzle and leaves it alone unless I decide to change it myself.

I need to go buy and fix up another PowerMac to do penance for my sin. Or maybe I'll go over to Other World Computing and buy the last MAXPower 7448 Dual 1.8 and stick it in my G4 so I have the world's toughest PowerMac G4 to go alongside the world's toughest PowerMac G5.

I would say a disparaging thing right here but I'm afraid you'd hit me with your purse.  By the way, now that we both have gerl's computers, we must not wear the same outfit while at the forums.  One of us will wind up leaving mortified and in tears.

I have two PowerBook G4's at home acting as file servers, audio pass-thru "equalizers", webservers, etc. One of them would still be my primary laptop if I wasn't forced to run Windows for school. That and software companies closing their doors PowerPC development, like you said.

On topic, I prefer digital distribution, mainly for cross-computer save game access (where available). Monopolies aside, I would put them all in one place, like Steam, if I could.

I only buy physical copies if they are functionally equivalent to the downloadable version (I can download the game at any time, and the disc is not required) or there's a CE with physical items I might want. So, Blizzard titles and Steamworks games. (Skipping the Diablo III CE, this time, though; the SC2 one was a waste of money.)

Given that my next MacBook will likely not have an optical drive, I want to eliminate any future potential need of one.

Then you probably disabled it and just can't remember that. You should do less drugs.

Yup. Spell checking is independent of autocorrect.

The last physical game I bought was 2006. Half Life to play on Bootcamp. Since then I went totally download.
And I like it much more that way.

PS: but I kept all my 100+ Pre 2005 games, stored away safely.

I bought Bioshock (not no. 2) a few weeks back. I Played some of it last night, it was great. I affirm my position on buying media: I find physical media better, unless digital media has a clear advantage; like Hearts of Iron III did.
