Is there a hotkey that pauses gameplay?

None for RealLife though. The closest hotkey for that one is the "Vacation"-macro, which you can assign to any key.

And now, time for some Legend of Zelda.

Yeah, but you don't have to forget that the game world still continues in real time. Otherwise you will have some embarrassing mishaps with pets and similar.

The global thermo nuclear warfare pause key solves that pesky problem.  It's the big red key with the clear plastic cover over it.
