Ah, so it is a 10.6.8 problem, thanks.  Indeed the performance is more than good enough, but with the textures like that it kinda looks like a 90s game (with better lighting).  ;)  I don't suppose there's a way to use 10.7 GPU drivers on 10.6....

Here's a great deal: http://www.mupromo.c...ck-&-bioshock-2

Bioshock 1 & 2 for only $30! pretty cool if you don't have them, get both for the price of one :)

Only 9 some hours left on the deal, but thought I'd post it anyway.

Nope. I ended up buying the game for PC again on steam for $5 and the DLC for $2.50 during a sale. It was well with it--the DLC was
superb.

Yeah, i saw lots of mentions on this DLC being the best DLC ever, and Bioshock is a fun game, so...

There is even another bombshell hidden in that news: Bioshock 2 for Mac is now also available on Steam.

That's very nice news about Bioshock 2 being on Steam now. I had purchased it there a long time ago along with the DLC on a sale. I have yet to get to the Bioshock series though I own the bunch of them on Steam and I had repurchased the first two games on the Mac App store. On a bright note, while I will wind up playing the Steam version now I am glad Feral got paid for a copy of the game by me other than the DLC.

I wonder if they'll bring the first Bioshock game over to Steam too or not. That would be nice if it supported achievements. I forget if that had any DLC but if it did, knowing me I picked that up with the game too during some sale in the past.

No DLC and no achievements in Bioshock 1.

Blast. I just noticed that I apparently cannot get the DLC for the retail disk version (no "DLC" tab), and I missed the Steam sale. :(

Bioshock 2 should update itself for those who have it installed, and linked to the internet. Or, at least, Feral mentioned that.

Does your retail boxed version come with a special 'code' you had to enter on install? If so, you can get the newest version of the game which supports the DLC code entry as well.

Yes, it has a code that I can use to activate it via the internet (which I have). The game also claims to be up-to-date (1.0.1), at least I don't get any update notification. The Feral site however says there is a newer version (1.3).

Right, it should have updated itself to 1.3 :(

Well, you could ask feral, they do have a download installer for 1.3, which requires your code to install. Its the one that MGS hosts.

Yeah, I might have to do that, since I can't find a way to force the game to look for updates.

This FAQ article mentions that you will have to contact Feral at "support@feralinteractive.com" to update to version 1.3

Thanks. I still hope they bring that to Steam as well where i like the client features of time tracking, sharing screen shots, overlay web browser - not that I ever need to look up anything of course, etc.

The Steam web browser sucks duck taint.  I quit out of the game and use Firefox or Safari if I need to browse the web for info mid-game.

Aint that the truth. It doesnt even support bookmarks to common wiki or game help sites you need outside of the very slim/lame Steam Guides.

Some games you don't need to quit; you can pause them and Cmd-Tab back to the finder or browser. Some games recover nicely when you switch back, but a handful don't so make sure your progress is saved before trying it.
