How do I get gtkradiant working on intel Macintosh?
Posted 27 October 2011 - 04:36 PM
I looked at a tutorial on how get it working on intel Macs, but, the file (called "script" inside the "show package contents" option) has the permissions set to "read", not "read and write", so I (and the computer's owner) tried to change the permissions to "read and write", but, it changed virtually nothing.
Then I thought I would try to get it to work on a Windows, and make a map there, then transfer the map back to this Mac, but, it doesn't have a Quake 3 based game installed on it so that was a no-go....
Also, if this is any help, I would like to use Gtkradiant to make maps for Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy.
So, if anyone has any insight, that would be great!

Again, insight is appreciated!

I tried copying the Four icons from the installer into the Applications folder and tried to open it there, still it did not work... I tried the tutorial again and I could save the changes I made to "script", but the program, after opening it, just flashes on then quits, not even long enough for Activity Monitor to read it. Then I tried it again on the desktop and still nothing happened. I have tried about 5 times, and it's just the same thing. So, if anyone knows how to get it working, help if you can, please!

Believe it or not, when I search "how to get gtkradiant for intel macs working" (or something like that) on google the top result for it is this topic!
Oh, and that "how to get gtkradiant working on an intel mac" tutorial I mentioned on my first post, well here's the link in case anyone wants to see it/use it. Sometimes it won't load though.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get it working (meaning gtkradiant), please reply!

Hmmmm.... I had wondered about all those views of this topic...
I am glad somebody said something instead of me continuing to !
Is this topic amusing?
If so, I didn't think news/blah-blah-blahing about how I can't get a program to work would be something,
well, amusing or interesting!
So, is anyone on here a Quake 3 Mac mapper with Gtkradiant (the link takes you to Wikipedia)?
Amusement at the subject, or help/info/insight is helpful (even if you are just interested, (or something like that)!)!

Anyway, I said in my first post that I tried to get GtkRadiant to work on a Windows (running XP) then transfer it to a Mac...
So, would it be (even though the Windows machine does not have a Quake 3 or id Tech(?) based game on it) possible to make a world on there - transfer using, say, a disc, then write whatever .???s need to be written, package it, throw it in the base folder and type (in game) map WhatChOmOddDooger and play it (even if it's empty of NPCs to start with, I'll take it anyway, I can "spawn" in-game)?
