You can get a stun gun & a tranq dart gun, but the ammo for either one is exceedingly rare.

I must disagree with you. There's a lot of ammo for both if you scrounge around for it, as well as buy more from shops in the city hubs.

As far as "slowing down the game" related to takedowns, I don't really think that does. If you are referring to the time it takes your energy to recharge..then use I can see why. That's also why I max energy regen early on which gives you a cell every 20 seconds. And with Reflex Booster you can get two people at once. Between stun gun + knockout takedown I swept through areas pretty fast. You can also get more energy cells and find protein bars etc for refills. It IS annoying your cells never recharge past one, but the game would be too easy if they all refilled.

There's also a crossbow, but it doesn't have multiple ammo types, just bolts so only killing. Still its also a great stealth weapon - and you can pin people to walls.

All that being said, I also miss a straight up melee weapon. The takedowns are fun and I never got tired of them, but I did crave a baton, crowbar or sword. Here's hoping the next game puts melee weapons back in along with your takedowns.

I guess you're supposed to sneak. Sounds unreasonable if you ask me, especially when the whole point of the tutorial is to teach you about weapons & the cover system.

Most game servers are Don't Ask Don't Tell so you are bound to sneak your snake into an enemy who will turn around and caress your cheek.

Was at my brothers place last night. The first Deus Ex was is favourite game ever made. He beat it over 5 times.  He has DEHR for 360 and is very very impressed with it. So that's a good sign coming from someone who has played the original so much

I'm having trouble deciding which weapons to upgrade. I have the laser sight, the faster reload upgrade and an armor piercing upgrade. I've also found where I can get a silencer. The most obvious weapon seems to be the 10mm pistol, since that has the most abundant ammo available.

Amateur stuff I beat the original 10 times. I think the more you enjoy the original, the more you'll enjoy the prequel.

The only upgrades you want on your pistol are the laser sight, silencer and armor piercing mod. Otherwise ignore adding upgrades to your pistol, reload speed etc. Why? Because you can headshot 99% of the enemies in the game with your pistol once you get the armor piercing rounds on it. And if you have the silencer and be stealthy its an easy way to take out groups without wasting ammo. The pistol's inefficient  in an actual firefight and there's plenty of better guns to use if you aren't bothering to be quiet. You only find or buy so many mods in the game so pick 1 or 2 guns and stick with upgrading them to get the most benefit. Personally I'm a fan of the assault rifle and SMG for weapon mods. The crossbow is another weapon that doesn't really need mods besides the tracking system since you can headshot guys and its silenced naturally. I think it does support damage upgrades which is useful for guys with helmets.

Anyway, my opinion - don't upgrade the pistol beyond laser, silencer and armor piercing.

If you use the cover system effectively, it's pretty easy not to be seen. Though, ended up not getting the achievement anyway for some reason. I think there's a bug that changes unconscious bodies to dead when you reload a save.

Press the button you use to shoot/use weapons.
