Yup, after a 15 month period of hobbyist on-and-off programming (mixed in with family and work stuff) I've finally wrapped up development of my iPad-only "wargame" Move It, Soldier! and submitted it last night to Apple. It should hit the App Store in a few weeks (fingers crossed) but in the meantime there are some screen shots available on the website ... you know where to look, soldier!

In terms of mechanics it's basically a risk-balancing game of requesting orders to move either quickly or cautiously across a randomly generated Normandy battlefield. There are some card-driven and dice-driven mechanisms that power it (think Zombie Dice meets Up Front meets a traditional wargame) and it's pretty simple to learn. v1.0 is the "MVP" state of the game (minimum viable product) and the v1.1 update will add a bunch more snazzy features that didn't make the 1.0 cutoff.

Anyhow, I'll send in a proper news items when it hits. Now onto Tiles & Terrors.

Spammers who post links and trolls? Why is there never a knowledgeable forum admin around when you need them.

I have to say, I'm quite impressed. Especially since DJJ has been working on this for a decade, and even before iOS was designed, let alone the iPad.

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.

Fire-truckin' spies. That whole time machine thing wasn't supposed to have been found out. Sure felt like a decade's worth of development, though ... why anyone does that for a living is beyond me. v1.1 is going to need a re-write off the main game code ... scrap dozens and dozens of variables being check in every second function for something called "objects" that would hold all that stuff and make it easier to reference. Eric5h could rain such shame down right now*. Oh well, the things you learn at the last minute after 15 months of hobbyist tinkering.

*Except he's busy getting that trap set up for tB ... oh, wait, shhhhh.

Looks great!

Do I understand correctly that there is no computer opponent, you must play have another human to play against?

Yes. I tried to mention that it's a 2-4 person pass-and-play everywhere I can.

I am looking at adding a solo-play variant for v1.1 update.

A true AI-based system where you play against the iPad will be quite a while coming.
