Indie developer New Star Games recently announced the release of New Star Soccer 5 for Mac and Windows PCs. The latest instalment in the retro football series is free-to-play, with the option of purchasing a premium account for unlimited matches per day. The 2D single player game allows players to lead the life of a football star.

New Star Soccer 5 is an old-school style 2D football game, both an homage to Sensible Soccer and yet a completely unique and original game in its own right.

Live the life of a young football star as you try to achieve success on the pitch and gain the respect and adoration of your team-mates, fans and friends. You can play in a whole host of leagues from around the world and compete in national tournaments such as the World Cup. Gaining the skills to help your team lift the ultimate trophy will take time but you will have a blast getting there! The official trailer was described by PC Format as “the best footie trailer ever,” whilst previews from DIYGamer and 8BitRocket both describe the game as “awesome”. New Star Soccer 5 is free-to-play offering gamers 5 free matches on day one, then up to 3 free matches per day. Players can also upgrade to a premium account for $20 which grants them unlimited matches.
