Must be a US only offer as I can't even see that Direct2Drive sell the Mac version of Command & Conquer when looking on the UK site :)

I only tested for basic launch and play back but it worked OK for me (Mac Pro, Radeon 5870 with Lion) so it might be a graphics driver bug. There seems to be a few in the initial Lion drivers so it might be fixed with a point update.

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone who have replied thus far! Are there any others who can confirm/deny that C&C: Red Alert 3 works with Mac OS X Lion 10.7 ??

I'm thinking of purchasing it, but I want to make sure that it will run on my system.

Cheers,

Perhaps the better question is does any Ciderized game run on Lion? At least the older ones (which aren't that old). I've seen posts from various places describing similar problems with other Ciderized games.

All of my cider wrapped games seem to work in Lion more or less the same as they did in Snow Leopard*. Most of them are ones I wrapped myself though.... but that doesn't change the fundamental way cider works.

*Actually I take that back.. I seem to have some graphical improvements in my wrapped UE3 titles like Saw The Video game when run in Lion. Like a couple of more special effects seem to work. ;) Also I've noticed less texture pop-in in titles like X-Men Origins Wolverine which is another UE3 title I have wrapped. Seems like texture streaming is at least a bit better in Lion.

Well I've seen reports from around the web of titles like The Sims 3, Jade Empire, Lego Universe, and C & C Red Alert not even launching under Lion. I don't know how widespread this issue is or if it's being addressed. Admittedly I haven't been following it that closely because I haven't upgraded yet and may not anytime soon but it does make me wonder.

I guess a lot of the older Cider wrappers have issues whereas the custom built ones can easily be updated to use the latest Cider wrappers available.

It might be worth verifying the cider revision in those wrappers that fail to see if they are indeed older versions. LEGO Universe's however isn't that old and is a wrapper revision family known for being able to have enabled running UE3 titles. The info.plist usually says or barring that there's a version.txt in the frameworks folder that says too. Many if not all my wrapped tittles are running under revision 5413 here. I may be wrong here but I think LEGO Universe may have been upgraded to the 5xxx family somewhere down the line. BTW LEGO Universe starts at revision 4xxx and the latest revisions (like with Cars 2) are 6xxx versions.

I can not get The Settlers to start on Lion....well, it has been a pretty bad experience since it was a sloppy Cider port anyway...

I have the impression that Transgaming isn't too keen on providing support for their products, considering that for instance the PC version Battlefield 2142 got a patch in February that still hasn't turned up for the Mac – basically rendering the game useless since there almost aren't any servers left, where one could play with the old version. That's not even counting the graphical glitches that turned up after some Snow Leopard patch or the other. And whether the game runs under Lion... who knows. :glare:

I picked this up a few months ago when it was on sale. It has some horrible, horrible audio-related freezing bugs. Most of the time though I can wait the freeze out and after a minute of hiccups the game will play fine for hours. But occasionally it seems to deadlock completely and I can't force quit it, so I have to manually reboot the system. Be wary.

Seems my issues may have been Perian related. Playing on a fresh system without it installed, the videos and sound play just fine.
