Macgamestore.com has announced the addition to its webstore of two new DLC packs for Aspyr Media's Civilization V: Civilization and Scenario Pack - Denmark and the Vikings and the Explorer's Map Pack. The Denmark pack adds the Denmark civilization and a new scenario to the game, while the Explorer's Map Pack introduces ten new single player maps to Civ V.

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Denmark & The Vikings:
The Denmark Civilization and Scenario Pack brings you both the Denmark Civilization and the new Scenario, 1066: Year of Viking Destiny, to further enhance your Civilization V experience. Rule the world as Harald Bluetooth, with your powerful Berserker warriors and Ski Infantry!

Scenario Description
In 1066: Year of Viking Destiny, the throne of England is up for grabs. Take the role of one of four leaders and seize control of the British Isles! Special rules for the scenario ensure that the only way to win is by the cunning use of force. Can you complete the Domesday Book and secure legal rule before your rivals? Use unique units for each faction in the scenario to claim the throne and stand the test of time!

Denmark Ruler – Harald Bluetooth
Harald Bluetooth (920 – 986 AD) was King of Denmark for nearly 30 years. During his reign, he united the earls of Denmark and Norway and defended his people from invasion from Sweden and Germany. Today he is viewed as a just and wise king of Denmark.

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Explorer's Map Pack:
Ten fantastic single-player maps make up this Civilization V DLC pack designed by Firaxis Games. Five of the maps are based on real-world locations, chosen for their historical interest and gameplay possibilities. The remaining five are scripted map environments. These maps will change from game to game, but will focus on an exciting gameplay theme. From the arid Sandstorm to the lush Amazon, and from the Caribbean to the Bering Strait, these maps will give skillful Civilization V players new lands to conquer!
The new Civilization V map packs are available for $4.99 (USD) each. For more information follow the links below.

Wow.  Let the nickel-and-diming continue.

Tell me about it. It makes me wonder if we are ever going to get a Civ V expansion.

Remember when you bought a game, and the content came with it?  $5 just to play a Viking?  Meh!

Yes, I do--three weeks ago, Witcher 2. Deluxe Edition is the regular edition, all DLC is free (2 released so far.) All preorder bonuses were added in a subsequent patch. If they do charge for more content, it will be an expansion. Also, DRM-free.

Note to everyone else: please copy CD Projekt!

I think they're onto something.  From now on, you guys have to pay $1 for each message you post.  Ker-ching!

Heh.  As I've said before, I'll buy Civ 5 when all DLC, expansions, and patches are included in one package for around $30-40.  Say, in about three years.  Until then, Civ IV will do nicely.
