hello all

we are currently searching for volunteer beta testers for a new mac racing game currently under development.

you can get some information about the game here:

http://corebreach.corecode.at/

Posted Image

we are currently searching for people with one of the following graphics cards:
• ATI Radeon X1600 /  X1900, ATI Radeon HD 2400
• NVIDIA GeForce 7300 / 7600 / 120
• Intel HD Graphics 3000

the other requirement for beta-testing is good mac knowledge, please only apply if you e.g. can use Console and ActivityMonitor, have used the Terminal before and know how to locate and send CrashReports.

the first beta-test stage is pretty boring, you'd be required to run a non-interactive demo and send us the performance reports back.

if you are interested, please send a mail to corebreach@corecode.at with "CoreBreach Beta Signup" as subject.

thanks, julian

I recommend you drop the cel-shaded graphic effects from your game.

Other than that, it looks cool.

development is already wrapping-up, so its way to late to change the art-direction now. but if you don't like the black outlines, they can be configured in width (and even turned off completely- which makes the game run considerably faster) and color.

>Other than that, it looks cool.

thanks! ;-)

BTW, regarding your nickname, there are plenty of marathon references in the game ;->

By "Marathon references", do you mean Bungie Software's Marathon Trilogy?  Because that is what his name is referring to.  Probably not as this is a racing game, but still that would have been pretty cool.  "Frog blast the race course!"

Looks like Wipeout? Has Marathon references? Dodgy and unstable beta code that might wipe my work computer? I'm in! *sends email*

And now, time for some Legend of Zelda.

I actually like the art style and the cel-shading. I will keep an eye on this one for sure. Any racing game for the mac is a step in the right direction. ;) I always enjoyed the Wipeout-esque games over the years and a new original is a good thing in my opinion.

Could you post a screenshot wihtout those thick edges on everything? Just want to see how it looks.

The art style worked quite well for Borderlands...

as i said, you can just turn it off if you don't like it, probably even a good idea on integrated graphics chips as the outline rendering is quite expensive.

anyway, this thread has not generated enough beta-signups yet, so we are going to put a notice on the website too and properly announce the game, which should hopefully generate more interest.

Not sure which one I prefer, but then again, the only cell shaded game I've tried is The Wind Waker.. (Which is *awesome*).

I haven't gotten a response on my email - Are you waiting until you have enough people?

sadly, IMG didn't seem to want to run a story about CoreBreach - i don't suppose anyone has an inside connection to them...?  ;-)

btw, beta 0 (for performance and technical issues) has been has already been given out and beta 1 (for actual gameplay) will be out in the next few days.

the good thing about the next beta stage is that it is "open" for people with any graphics card, so if you didn't sign up yet because your card isn't on the list you can sign up for the next beta test by using "CoreBreach Beta Stage 2 Signup"  as the subject line.

For some reason, it is really hard to contact this site with news etc.  I hear your complaint a lot.

the game is now available on the Mac App Store, and there is a playable demo (and new screenshots / videos) on the website!
